Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

£40 Billion Floating London Airport

posted by on 22/12/2012

Floating Airport

Who’s up for a new airport in London? Yes I agree with you there is no space to house a full functioning airport since London is relatively small when compared to the amount of people that live/visit here. What is the solution then? Well engineering consultancy Beckett Rankine have come up with a brilliant yet costly answer to this problem. They have revealed a proposal for a £40 billion floating airport on the Thames estuary with the aim to take some of the stress away from London’s existing airports. The proposed floating airport would be a stone throw away taking just 40 minutes on the  underground from central London and theoretically should and would be able to operate 24-hours a day as there are no nearby homes who would be affected by the noise. Do you think this is a good idea?

3 Months

posted by on 18/12/2012

Almost. It’s been just over 2 and a half months since I started at Virgin Active. My attempts at physical activity since leaving high school in 2004 have been as successful as Arsenal. Always trying but never having the endurance to last the distance to see any real change. Even in the university years, every summer break I’d say to myself that I’d hit the gym and have that Ryan Gosling body by the time class kicks off again in October. Nope. I’d come back to class with my one pac as always. Continues on the reverse

COMPETITION: Win A Pair Of Ferrari x Logic3 Headphones

posted by on 17/12/2012

Just in time for Christmas. The good folks over at Ferrari have given us a pair of their Logic3 collaboration headphones to give away to one lucky reader. Headphones have dual purposes in the winter – they’re pretty good at feeding your ears with music as well as keeping the warm. I can’t imagine using in-earphones till the warmer months. Hop on after the cut if you want to win a pair of these slick looking headphones.

Dope Quote #55

Strike while the iron is still hot. When I was down and out earlier this week with a cold, I decided to finally give a show that I’ve slept on for a while. That show was Mad Men, which most of you already know about, it’s set in New York during the golden era of advertising in the 60s. 5 days and 30 episodes later, I think it’s fair to say I’m addicted. It’s all because of the lifestyle, style, industry, pitches and more. I’ve taken away a few lessons from it (I know it’s not real!) The one I want to share with you is the quote above from Duck Philips to Peggy when he tries to lure her to rival agency Grey. More on the reverse.

Ian Wright – Nothing To Something | Interview

posted by on 24/11/2012

How did this slip under my radar in September? I’ve always been an advocate of stories and the power they have to transform lives. Legendary gooner Ian Wright shares his with the world in this interview. I’ve got to give props to GrimeDaily for the filming and execution of it all, they’ve asked the perfect questions to get some deeply moving answers from the former player. He tells about how Football transformed his life, finding his passion, the importance of having/being a father figure and more on the reverse. I definitely recommend you spare 30 minutes and watch it on the flip side, may make you cry in a few parts.

Newly Proposed Housing For London's Homeless

posted by on 21/11/2012

Now this is what I call a good idea. Hawse (Homes through Apprenticeships With Skills for Employment) have revealed their joint proposal with  Levitt Bernstein architects to renovate and bring life to unused garages in London turning them into temporary living spaces for the homeless. The London borough of Hackney, who this proposal was specifically aimed at, have taken this on board and are looking into it. Each garage house will cost £13000 to set up with the aim to letting them out for £50 per month excluding utilities. I personally think this is a great idea and if all works out then it should be rolled out across the country. What do you guys think?

Andre ZoOm Gives Away Books For Stories

posted by on 16/11/2012

The universe is made of stories, not of atoms. A quote I came across recently, a story helps one connect with another. It’s a blessing to be able to do so as everyone has a story, something that defines you and makes you relate to the next man. Twenty-year-old Londoner and author Andre ZoOm Anderson has chosen to share his in a new format via Tumblr utilising his typography and design skills into an enjoyable scrolling read about his creative journey. I suggest you click over here and start reading a few chapters on your way to work this morning. Having released four books over the past two years, he’s now eager to hear yours and in return he’ll send you a copy of his book. All you have to do is answer a question. What’s your story?

ATP World Tour Finals – The Lacoste Experience

posted by on 12/11/2012

You’ve got to love a spot of Tennis on a Sunday. Well, I’d be surprised if you didn’t love an experience like this, we were lucky enough to be invited down to Lacoste‘s sponsor village at the ATP Final Showdown inside the O2 Arena. In my 24 years here on Earth/London, I’m yet to visit and watch a game at Wimbledon. Although Tennis is one of my favourite sports to watch, that journey across London on the District Line and the wait outside Wimbledon has never appealed to me. ATP is much much more American with it’s in your face style of lighting and in-match glitz and glam in the shape of lights and animations. Not too mention the cloud of smoke that the players walk through as they walk onto the court, it is somewhat epic.
