Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

This week’s throwback is taken from Kelis’ third album ‘Tasty’ which landed back in 2003… 11 years ago! Millionaire is one of Kelis’ better offerings for me as it’s a great mix of Electro-Funk-R&B, granted it isn’t an opinion shared widely. As for the video, that must have been some extensive casting process because those kids look exactly like Kelis and Andre. Anyway the track features and was produced by Andre 3000, enjoy.

Throwback Thursday

Lately I’ve been appreciating Robert Glasper’s last two albums much more than I did when they were released-  and one particular track from ‘Black Radio’ stands out for me. ‘Cherish The Day’, vocals by Lalah Hathaway. Yes that’s not a throwback, but the original is- it’s by Sade from  ‘Love Deluxe’ (pretty sure I’ve “throwbacked” every song from this album). Anywho, Glasper’s take on the track is somewhat fantastic, but the groove in the original is far better plus Sade’s vocals. So to sum up, this week’s throwback track is  ‘Cherish The Day’ by Sade. H’enjoy.

It’s been almost a month since the last Eargasms – major slacking on our part and we never really see much new music cropping up over the Christmas period. We’re back now with some of the best new tunes from 2014 so far, see what you think after the cut. I’ve become a lot more strict with what I download and add to my library these days – not many songs will get more than 5 plays so they don’t need to be added to iTunes. Way too much mediocrity.

It’s been a minute since we put up an Eargasms post and for that I apologise but fear not as we are back with a new instalment. Since you’ve been slightly deprived of new music I expect you to already be clicking Read On and getting stuck into what we think is a great selection of fresh tracks. What are you waiting for?

A few weeks ago my colleague at work started playing some oldskool tunes. These tunes had us dancing in the store as if we were at a party, we were on a trip down memory lane. I thought since we took a trip down memory lane i’d invite you guys along by selecting one of the songs we played for this weeks throwback track. Read on and get into this classic track from Gwen McCrae.

J. Cole | Live in London

posted by on 04/12/2013

J. Cole is at the O2 next year – be there. Review done. No, but honestly, the 28 year old from North Carolina put on one hell of a show last night at the Hammersmith Apollo (or whatever the hell it’s called these days) and I was lucky enough to witness it. During an energetic display of all the hits, J. Cole performed his heart out while the sell-out crowd rapped along word for word. With a set pushing 90mins, Cole was non-stop. His humorous personality shone through both during and between songs, orchestrating the crowd to the beat and lyrics. As he sipped on his bottle of Hennessy, he says how tonight London made him feel like Jay-Z. Right on. More after the cut.

Earlier this week I was in the car with my mum playing a CD that was given to me by a friend. As soon as the CD started to play my mum started moaning and complaining and at one point shouted at me saying “turn this off you know I don’t like reggae”. Just as I was about to turn it off this weeks throwback track started to play and my mum was feeling the beat. I had to record the moment because the dance she was doing was too funny, peep the vid here. Now that you’ve seen the video and got a short snippet of our throwback track for this week why don’t you head on over to the flipside and listen to the song in full.
