Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Song Of The Day | Kyra – Higher (Cover)

posted by on 05/03/2015

Today I thought i’d shared something a little different with you all. I woke up, checked my emails and saw that i had been sent a link. I clicked the link which took me to YouTube, the video was of a young lady singing a cover version of Sigma feat Labrinth – Higher. As I was listening I was racking my brain on ways I could share this with you all without it being a random placement on the blog because I felt that I needed to share it so with that in mind I present Song Of The Day. Read on to here the delicious tones of Kyra as she puts her own spin on the song.

Music Video | Dizzy Rascal – Couple of Stacks

posted by on 16/02/2015

This week Dizzee Rascal dropped what is easily my favourite music video of the year so far to accompany Couple of Stacks, a track which featured on the Pagans EP released back in December. The video is a comical gorefest and not for the squeamish type, it’s wonderful to see such a creative video come out of the UK rap scene. Dizzee seems to have abandoned the toned down style that brought him pop fame, his delivery and flow in particular feel far more like they did ten years ago. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll see another classic like Boy In Da Corner released in the future. Video after the cut.

Zane Lowe Joins Apple

posted by on 16/02/2015

In what has come as a surprise to many Zane Lowe has announced that he is leaving BBC Radio 1 to go and start a new adventure in the US working at Apple. Zane has worked for the BBC for over 10 years so his leaving is actually quite monumental. Speaking about his departure the DJ had this to say “I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 for their support and friendship…..The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans. I’ve loved every minute of it.”. Annie Mac will take over his Monday – Thursday 7pm-9pm slot from March 9th, this means that she will now vacate her current Sunday evening slot. Apple have done well to secure the services of Lowe and will benefit from his vast musical knowledge and general love and enthusiasm for music that spans across many genres.

Music Video | Frett – Silent Alarm

posted by on 10/02/2015

To be honest, I wasn’t aware of Frett until seeing this video, I’m just not that hip. However they give me a bit of a Warpaint vibe and I love Warpaint. The video screams with emotion and transitions between a variety of contrasting scenes, I’m yet to get my head around it completely but it definitely caught my attention. With that said, I’ll let you make your own mind up after the cut!

FKA Twigs – Pendulum

posted by on 15/01/2015

Only yesterday Adam mentioned the beautiful FKA Twigs and her exceptional, attention grabbing, music videos. I’m so excited by Twigs creativity and her ability to treat everything she does as art. The track Pendulum features on last years LP1 and the video is in the typical style of the artist, dark and seemingly quite twisted (literally). Make your own interpretation after the jump.

Flying Lotus – Corunus, The Terminator

posted by on 14/01/2015

Can’t say I pay much attention to music videos, but that has changed somewhat as of late. Primarily because of what I’ve seen from the likes of FKA Twigs and Flying Lotus. Here he is again with an amazing video for Corunus, The Terminator. Directed by LA-based director Young Replicant, the video really encapsulates what the track is all about, and is filmed stunningly well. FlyLo comes to London on May 1st. Check out the video after the jump.

A Clash of Cultures with Red Bull

posted by on 03/11/2014

So, did you catch the action? Last Thursday we were invited along to Red Bull’s world famous Culture Clash, and my word was it crazy. A 20,000 strong sell-out crowd filled Earl’s Court for a night to remember of music clashes between reigning champs BBK, A$AP MOB, Stone Love and, the winners of this year, Rebel Sound. As the crowd moshed the night away, David Rodigan and co. tore up every round leaving the others not knowing what hit them.

YouTube To Start Music Subscription Service

posted by on 29/10/2014

Fresh from the rumored news that Apple plan to incorporate Beats Music into iTunes comes some news that is sure to displease them. Another competitor in the music subscription sector is close to being unveiled. YouTube have announced that they too are planning to provide a streaming service in the near future but have refrained from releasing any more details about their offer. YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said that her team was “working on it” and that the service is a near-time goal for the company. Rumored reports are suggesting that they are looking into ways to make their service different from their competitors by incorporating video such as concert clips and other video content. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see who will end up on top.

Apple To Merge Beats Music and iTunes?

posted by on 28/10/2014

When Apple bought Beats for the crazy amount of money they bought it for some people questioned their motives. Some even thought they were crazy however, the latest rumor about their plans to merge Beats Music into iTunes makes their reasoning much clearer. With the rise of streaming services there has been a steady decline in digital music sales so instead of creating an entirely new service to compete with the likes of Spotify Apple decided to go out a buy one instead. Sources are reporting that Apple are currently talking with the big record labels to secure a deal where users would pay $5 for a monthly streaming subscription. If they manage to broker this deal and offer it to new consumers along with their astonishingly large pool of users that already use iTunes, 800 million, then I think it”s pretty safe to that Spotify who charge $10 may find it hard to survive.
