Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Well I’ve got a surprise for you Lupe stans, I have the fully mastered version of Lupe’s second single ‘I’m Beaming.’ Sorry about the lateness with this post again, It’s a regular thang now but time is lacking with university starting again. So sadly I won’t have time to go into detail with these posts as usual, it will just be links to songs.

Talib Kweli @ Indigo2

posted by on 18/01/2010

Ever since Talib dropped his debut album Quality back in 2002, he earned alot of respect from most underground and even commercial artists. This is all down to his thought provoking lyrics that evoke passion and real emotion which some people say real hip-hop is all about. I’ve always been more into commercial rap/ hip hop but Talib Kweli is one of the few underground artists I listen to, I quite like his style and the flow of his tunes! At the end of this month he will be holding a gig at the O2′s Indigo2; I am definatley reaching this one! More information after the jump…

Alternative Band Of The Week: Sienna Skies

Just when I thought I was just about ready to hang up my two step and hand over my subwoofer for a life on folk music and bluegrass I stumbled across a record by sensational Sydney six piece Sienna Skies.

P Diddy: Angels (Remix)

posted by on 17/01/2010

I was feeling the original track “Angels” by P Diddy and now a remix and an official video has dropped. If someone told me Diddy would ever be singing, I would call them a lair! If you put aside bait autotune, he dosn’t sound too bad; his vocals go well with the beat (which is hard btw). The video is quite dry though- quite boring; but to be fair the tune doesn’t need an epic video, its quite simple and chilled out.. check it out!

Happy Birthday Aaliyah

Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979August 25, 2001). She would have been 31 years old today, a rare interview and a selection of my favourite songs by her after the cut.

Jay-Z Speaks On The Illuminati & Religion

posted by on 16/01/2010

I know a lot of you narrow-minded peeps think way too much into things and start associating music with Devil/Illuminati/Freemasons. Jay-Z has been one of a few artists who has been constantly linked with the secret societies. I’ve never believed in such crap, music is music, a platform to voice your opinion/express your feelings and so on. I’ve never heard Jay-Z spit 666-related lyrics ever and I’ve listened to all his albums! after the cut for his interview with Angie Martinez of Hot 97.

Flashback Friday

posted by on 15/01/2010

It’s that time again, that time where we pick two HARD tunes from back in the day. I have chosen Changes by the one and only Tupac; a very influential song and up till this day the lyrics speak for it self “still I see no changes”. It’s mad how I’m about to introduce a tune that contradicts the firsts one big time but it’s such a sick song. ‘Hit em up’ also by Tupac. The way Biggie got straight Par in this song its not a joke!

Throwback Thursday

Aight ya’ll, I’ve been listening to some classic Jay-Z albums this week on my daily commute to University. By classic I mean, classics from the 00s; Jay-Z’s Blueprint, Blueprint 2 and the Black Album. All 3 are out of this world, this is what Hip Hop is all about! He needs to bring this flow back and hook up with producer Just Blaze again, sweaaaaar down. Tunes after the cut.

M.I.A. – Theres Space For Ol Dat I See Video

posted by on 13/01/2010

M.I.A makes a comeback after giving birth to her child a few months ago, this video was posted via her twitter account earlier this morning. There is massive secrecy surrounding her upcoming album so this track comes as a pleasant surprise to her fans. I’m definitely feeling the song, it’s quite spacey and experimental with all the odd sounds but something infectious and catchy about her vocals. The video is bleh but who cares – it’s all about the music.

The Funhouse

It was our friend Enrico Delves birthday last week so YYYY flew down to the pits of Spice Of Life for Funhouse, an event put together by Enrico himself and others featuring many unsigned artists such as: Louise Golbey, Tara London, Charnelle, Miles Anthony & Mz Lalou as they showcased their talent. The night was indeed fun with non-stop live entertainment- we were feelin’ the live band!
