Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Lab Pal Zileri A/W 14 Lookbook

posted by on 18/07/2014

Italian fashion label Pal Zileri unveil their lookbook for autumn/winter 2014. With crisp cut tailoring and slim fitting silhouettes, each look is sharp and sophisticated with an earthycolour palette which is complimented by the morbid style photography . The photography is great, I like the sparse surroundings and I like the minimal usage of props which is quite similar to our concept for the NOTCH shoot. These guys don’t usually go down this route; this lookbook is giving me a high-end Zara (which is a good thing).

Larsson & Jennings x Wong Wong – World Cup Watch

posted by on 16/07/2014

Man, life doesn’t quite feel the same since the World Cup ended. Rushing home to watch the daily 9pm game was something I could get used to. Football took over the world for 30 days; advertising, branding, food, collaborations, Rihanna and more; it was definitely eat, sleep, watch football. I’m always sceptical about collaborations and releases during such high profile events as 90% come across as money grabbing schemes with no real authenticity or purpose behind it. If you haven’t heard of Wong Wong then please click here and get acquainted. Football inspired design at its best, real minimalist and wearable on a day to day basis unlike your jersey. They’ve teamed up with one of my favourite brands for a special collaboration watch. More on the reverse.

Specsavers x Cheap Monday

posted by on 08/07/2014

Specsavers and Cheap Monday, who would have thought it, quite the unlikely collaboration at first thought but actually it makes sense.  Most of us wear glasses at Y&Y HQ, might have something to do with the fact that we stare at computers all day? Literally only Tahirah and Nike pride themselves with having 20:20 vision…. their time will come. So when Specsavers reached out to us, we were happy to give the collection a try. We  headed out to Greenwich Maritime for this one. More after the break

Summer Fragrance Selection

posted by on 17/06/2014

As summer rolls around, so does the intensity of some peoples’ stink. Yes the weather is warm but is this an excuse for stench? No. Be it on the train or in the club, you don’t want to be that guy, the guy that everyone shields their nose at the sheer site of. Instead it is an excuse for freshness, something new to attract our noses as our tastes adapt to reflect the change in  weather. The better weather definitely has the effect of bringing beautiful people out into the suns rays and gentlemen you’d better be smelling fresh if you hope to make a good impression. So I’ve picked out three new fragrances that are sure to do just that, check out the full post for more.

Vulpine Summer 2014 Collection

posted by on 06/06/2014

Vulpine (I quite like the name of this brand) is a cycling apparel brand that takes the technical elements of cycling gear and spruces them up to present clothing that is both fit for purpose and stylish. Here we have their lookbook for this summer and it works very well with the lifestyle Vulpine is selling, the photography is sharp and looks very natural, no smokescreens and curtains here. There is a consistent energetic feel about it that makes you want to find a bike (and your nearest cycle lane) and go for a spin in the sun. You’ll do no such thing though *glances out the window*. Return of the Rudeboy x We Are Cuts

posted by on 03/06/2014

From 13 June to 25 August, Somerset House will host the Return of the Rudeboy exhibition, a collaborative project between photographer Dean Chalkley and creative director Harris Elliot. The exhibition will showcase a series of photography and installations that reinvigorate The Rudeboy, which originated in 1950s Jamaica. In preparing for the exhibition, the duo have teamed up with renowned hair stylist Johnnie Sapong of We Are Cuts to set up the Rudeboy Barbers in Selfridges as part of The Beauty Project. I had the pleasure of being invited down for a much needed trim and a chat with the folk behind the project to find out more. You can find the result of my hair styling on my Instagram and get more info on the exhibition by checking out the full post.

Topman Sportswear 2014

posted by on 22/05/2014

What’s with every brand getting involved in the sportswear game these days? H&M and now fellow Highstreet retailer Topman have entered the game with a debut collection. I guess fitness has become a big thing in the past few years and looking good whilst doing it is becoming more of a thing. I’m usually swoosh’d out to the max with an off-brand NBA jersey in the gym, you know how we do. There’s only so much you can do with performance wear, it’s more to do with the fit and functional side of things as opposed to out there design. Get the fit and quality right and you’re onto a winner. Topman have the upper hand when it comes to pricing as their sportswear rivals such as adidas have a somewhat higher mark up. £30 for shorts has always been ridiculous in my mind. TOMS – Sabados | The Slip On Shoe

posted by on 09/05/2014

As winter’s grip begins to (slowly) thaw, the changing of the seasons calls for a crucial spring/summer wardrobe update. They say ‘the shoes maketh the man’ and the Slip-On Shoe is no exception. Check out our favourite pair from the TOMS SS14 collection after the cut…

TENS – The Real Life Photo Filter

posted by on 08/05/2014

Smart concept and great timing since the world is all applying filters to ‘selfies’ and make yourself look better. Tens brings everyone’s favourite Instagram filter effect to real life – why not view the world you want to see it? The brand breathes a bit of life into the market where much hasn’t changed in the past 50 years. Watch the video after the cut to see how the brand came to life and what they’re all about.

Summer’s nearly here, and if you’re anything like me you’ll be happy about that until it arrives and then look forward to Autumn. However you’d also be thinking about what you’ll be wearing on your feet when the sunny weather arrives. While we know footwear is footwear, we also know the right pair is needed for the right occasion and style.
