Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Kanye West – ‘Never Let Me Down’ Studio Session

posted by on 14/02/2014

College Dropout is without a doubt one of my favourite albums to date and probably the album of my teenage years. From the sampling, honest lyricism, features and more, Ye really set the standard high with his debut album. This song is easily in my Top 5 of all time, big statement right there but it brings back lots of good memories for me. Yeezy’s finest. Pharrell’s reaction in this studio session is priceless. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the album dropped that’s how you know you’re getting old.

UpShotTV – Adot’s Apprentice | Web Series

posted by on 12/02/2014

With my attention span at an all time low due to the saturated mediocrity that’s all over the web, it’s rare to come across a series as funny and well done as Adot’s Apprentice. Yes I may fall into the target audience being a young Londoner but comedian Adot’s acting skills and ‘aff’ accent should be able to make anyone laugh. Taking an interesting spin on the ever popular Alan Sugar show Apprentice, UpShotTV produced a 4 episode series with the help of Elevation Networks mockumenting what would happen if Adot was an African Alan Sugar. Watch all four episodes after the cut on your lunch break, or out of work hours in case you don’t want to be FIYADDD!

Red Wing – Justin Vernon of Bon Iver

posted by on 12/02/2014

Man we’ve been quiet. It’s time to change this, back to where it began – the blog side of things. It’s funny I had a nostalgic moment when visiting my old university yesterday with work, t’was a nice reminder of how far I’ve come and where it all began. Without Y&Y, I certainly wouldn’t be where I am now. Hence why I can’t slack on it when work gets busy. Right enough digression, time to share something beautiful that I stumbled across the other day from the good folks at Red Wing. As part of an ongoing series, they’ve teamed up with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver who wear the boots on a regular to give a glimpse into his life. I feel like they should do one on me, more on the reverse…

He’s making a list of what kids need to know through the #thekidsneedtoknow hashtag – get involved. Watch video on the reverse.

A Conference Call in Real Life

posted by on 27/01/2014

Well, what a weekend – I’ll explain some day soon. Back to reality and back to posting! This is probably the most hilarious short I’ve seen in a while. It’s funny because it’s all true – conference calls are one of the most bizarre experiences that I have at work. Leadercast hired Youtubers Tripp and Tyler to promote their product with an ingenious video. Watch on the reverse. Don’t you just hate it when people show up halfway through a call?

Short Film | Candor: The Art of Gesticulation

posted by on 23/01/2014

This is mesmerizing. New short film from Christian Weber questions the body language of long relationships while Sheila Heti ponders their very necessity to life in her article on Nowness. The black&white film is exquisitely shot, high clarity and close crops to capture the movement from and details in body language. I can’t disagree with any of the points he raises in the film either, they’re all correct. “Sometimes, it takes a force from the inside to make love last. And sometimes it comes from without—when it is the winds that whisper through the windows who say, “It is not break-up time today.” Watch on the reverse.

Key Manifesto

posted by on 16/01/2014

I can’t imagine life without having a side project. I mean, you wake up, go to work, eat, sleep and do it all again? I need the side project to switch things up – like myself, my colleague has a side project called Key Manifesto. It’s all about taking a step back from the day-to-day hustle, the trap that we’ve all fallen into and having a quick moment to reflect/think about why we’re actually here. Key Manifesto does through a selection of thoughts and statements in the form of motivational quotes and inspirational manifestos that you can buy prints of. More on the reverse.
