Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

COMPETITION: Win A TRIWA – Sort of Black Watch

posted by on 29/04/2014

I can’t believe it’s almost May. What better way to keep track of the rest than with a new watch? As swanky as all the wearable fitness device clocks are, they can’t quite match up to the classiness of a watch. Triwa collaborates with Danish store Storm’s founder Rasmus Storm again for the second series of watches entitled Sort of Black. Epitome of Scandinavian style combining black and gold together to create a fine watch.

BACARDÍ – Untameable Since 1862

posted by on 29/04/2014

Everyone has a story – not just humans, even brands. Bacardí is a renowned name across the globe for its rum but much of its history is unknown. With over 150 years of history behind them the cuban family opens its archives to tell the brand’s heritage and roots through their new advertising campaign. The story takes us back to 1862 in Cuba where the journey has taken them through earthquakes, fire, wars and revolutions; to U.S. Prohibition and being exiled from Cuba to what it is today.

LET US ROAM | Short Films On Creativity & Skateboarding

posted by on 21/04/2014

Let Us Roam is an ongoing short film series supported by Leica Camera. The series features stories about photographers, artists, film makers and musicians who have come up through skateboarding culture. I can’t really give you the jibber jabber on the culture as my relationship with it goes as far as Tony Hawk’s Underground. That game did gas me to the point where I spent all birthday money on a board and protective pads to support me. I fell over once and never stepped foot on it again. First film in the series focuses on Ray Barbee, a legendary skateboarder with a multitude of skills in music and photography which came through skateboarding. If you’re passionate about creativity, then watch after the cut – he touches base on the topics on and how to relay his values onto his children.

Nike x Pigalle PPP Collection

posted by on 20/04/2014

I definitely should have posted this a few days ago when it leaked onto the internet. Basketball and sportswear go hand in hand so well from the varsity jackets, jerseys, sneakers (not just the Jordans) and more. The collection comes across authentic and stays true to Pigalle‘s design aesthetic and style. I could share the final product shots but I won’t, you can see them on Nike’s press release site here. April 26th marks the release of the collection born out of a mutual love for the game. Nike x PPP collection combines sport heritage and Parisian style allowing you to move from court into everyday life with ease. Hope on after the cut to see the inspiration shots/lookbook of the collection.

The Unsung Hero | Advert

posted by on 19/04/2014

What an incredible advert, a simple message relayed through some wonderful storytelling. I’ve been fighting with the fact that a lot of advertising is meaningless, adding consumerist noises to an already noisy world. On the good side of advertising, people create pieces like this that make you look back at your own life and reflect. The story follows a man on his daily routine to work but stopping to help whoever he sees on the road, from helping a lady with her portable market stall, feeding a stray dog and giving money to a homeless child. What does he get in return? You’ll see around the 1:57. It may even bring you to tears.

Stefan Sagmeister: The Power of Time Off

posted by on 11/04/2014

There’s only so many industry talks you can go to. Nowadays it’s always regurgitated information with the same old buzz words – content, influencer, data is power, collaboration is the future…shut up. I’m definitely a few years late with this one, just stumbled across Stefan Sagmeister‘s TED talks from 2009 where he discusses why he shuts down his agency every 7 years for a whole year to go on a sabbatical. The purpose? to rejuvenate and refresh their creative outlook as they started to produce work that was fairly similar. Stefan explains the overlooked value of time off and shows the innovative projects that are a result of his extended period of time off.

The Great Abyss

posted by on 11/04/2014

Prepare to be visually mind-blown, this is definitely one of the most beautifully shot interviews I’ve ever seen. The content is even better, it’s deep and definitely resonates with me at this very moment in time. I’ve been posting Salomon’s work on here for a good few years now, it’s awe-inspiring and always well executed so it’s nice to get a little insight into his creative process, starting a family, life as an artist and the constant battle of identity and existence. His honesty and authenticity really shines through in this piece with TheMusicBed who are a music licensing website. More on the reverse.

Rendez-vous & Other Stories

posted by on 05/04/2014

&OtherStories is H&M’s latest sub-brand, it’s only been around for a year or so and already killing it with it’s visual direction and design aesthetic. It’s a more trendy, chic version of Cos solely for women. The Scandinavian aesthetic oozes minimalism and avant garde cuts with clever visual merchandising thats cohesive throughout all the physical and digital platforms. Brand messaging done right. For their latest campaign, they’ve released a short film by director Wendy McColm which features French blogger/Alexa Chung Jeanne Damas humorously portray the tormented soul of the self-indulgent ‘Bohemian’ who can’t decide what to wear. Watch on the reverse. I know we don’t cover womenswear but I wanted to share the brand’s art direction with you, it’s one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Sign up to their weekly newsletter!

Make Every Yard Count

posted by on 31/03/2014

This is the kind of work I’d like to produce, it’s something I would look back at over the years and say ‘damn I’m still proud of that ad’. Nike India released this short film to celebrate cricket – if you’ve ever been to India, you’ll know what the country is like when it comes to the sport. I’m probably one of a few Indians that doesn’t like the sport but this film has made me want to play. Anywhere. More after the cut.

Better late than ever. Never late is better. Apologies for that Drake quote but it made my point clear. Here’s a few new songs for your ears, still not as many as we usually come across. I guess we’ve become somewhat picky when it comes to new music. So much mediocrity everywhere.
