Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 29/05/2014

I haven’t written a Throwback Thursday post for minute but I thought it was time I reclaimed ownership of this and give y’all some of that oldskool you have been missing. This week i’m taking it back to 2001/2002 with a single that was taken from this singers debut album ‘Closer‘ but was then  rerecorded and placed on her second album entitled ‘Even Closer‘. Have you guess who it is yet? No, I didn’t think so. This is a tough one as I feel like she is still relatively unknown. Anywho Enjoy this slice of RnB goodness from Goapele.

Back on track, second week in a row. Kudos to us. Now enough tooting our own horn and on to tooting the horn of the artists featured in this weeks line up. We’ve got some classic MJ pop, some Grime, some House/Garage and some fresh talent in the form of the gifted Tom Misch. If you don’t know who he is then get to know after the cut.

Lix The 3D Pen

posted by on 01/05/2014

No joke but this kinda blew me and my housemates mind. Being able to pick up a pen and draw a 3D object seemed like a far fetched idea a few years ago however technology moves so quickly now days that nothing surprises me anymore. Although I don’t get surprised I still get excited by a piece of kit which is simply genus. Art director Ismail Baran and creative director Anton Suvorov have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund their new invention and have almost quadrupled their original goal already. The pen which is being advertised as “the smallest 3D printing pen in the world” is not much bigger than a regular pen but allows you to draw in the air and create sculptures wherever you please. It heats up the plastic filament within 60-seconds (having been powered by USB) and cools down rapidly allowing the plastic to set. Check out the short vid explaining Lix’s capabilities when you read on. For those wanting to get their hands on a Lix then you can pre-order a pen when you pledge £82 or more to the Kickstarter.

Oops, we’re a little late in the day with this one but I guess we’ll blame it on the Bank Holiday’s. Although we’re late we feel that it’s better late than never, especially when our selections are stacked full of musical goodness. Please take a moment to give this weeks selections a spin and think of them as a late Easter offering. Enjoy.

AmazonDash

posted by on 09/04/2014

Everything seems to be getting easier and quicker in the world of technology, so it comes as no surprise that Amazon’s latest gadgetry introduction aims to make the shopping experience easy and quick. Amazon Dash lets you order whatever you want from anywhere in the home simply by allowing to scan an items barcode or alternatively requesting an item by voice. All orders processed should arrive the next day following payment via the Amazon site or app. Unfortunately Amazon Dash is only compatible with AmazonFresh which is only available for people in Southern California, San Francisco, and Seattle. The idea is good and should it work for the residents of those cities then I presume Amazon will roll out AmazonFresh to more territories. Peep the short video explaining how Amazon Dash works when you read on.

This week Eargasms seems to have unintentionally been pieced together with a theme in mind. That theme being friendship, the reason being is that three of the tracks in this weeks selection come from friends of Y&Y. Raheem Bakaré, Joel Baker and Joleon Davenue from Phoenix & The Flower Girl all have Y&Y ties however we would include them if their tracks weren’t cutting it #NoFavouritism. Take a listen to our friends and seem if you like just as must as we do, p.s there’s some Drake up in the mix too if you’re into that.

Illustrated Quotes

posted by on 01/04/2014

Ryan McArthur, a web and graphic designer from Toronto, has elegantly created visuals to bring to life some inspirational quotes. The words of wisdom from famous people such as Albert Einstein and Oscar Wilde have been coupled with minimalist designs that illustrate the quotation’s meaning. “I really wanted to find quotes that not only provided a great visual to play off of, but that speak to life in general,” he says.
