Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Team Imani | YGF

posted by on 13/11/2012

London has always been a welcoming city for up and coming brands to express powerful messages through fashion. Londoners wear it and believe in what their wearing. London based Sport and lifestyle brand Team Imani is certainly a good example of this. As the brainchild of former Ghana U20 footballer Papa Agyemang. Team Imani is a brand with a core underlying message of faith and belief; a brand that is gradually building a presence in the London scene and football world. Agyemang had a desire to deliver positive statements in defiance of the ups and downs in football through the vehicle of fashion. As a result the brand “Imani” which is the Swahili word for faith was born. “TEAM” is the word to connect everyone who can associate with the message. Check out some Team Imani pieces after the jump

Introducing Tori Kelly

posted by on 25/09/2012

I have done a few of these posts in the past and every time I do so I get excited about the artist I am writing about. Anyone who has seen some of my tweets over the Olympic period, will have seen me refer to Tori Kelly’s music accompanied with the words “feel good” and “inspiring”. So to a certain extent this Introducing post is long overdue. For those of you that do not know much about the 20 year old California native, check out more info after the jump.

For the 3rd instalment of Unsung heroes, here is feature on Lex, a creative director and music video producer from Brooklyn, New York. Team GB Football | LDN 2012 Olympic Diary #3 | Parade

posted by on 11/09/2012

Yesterday was a great day but also a sad one. No more Olympics, Paralympics or an excuse for Olympic friendliness that has managed to make Londoners care about each other more than ever before! But, as cliche as it sounds, I do believe in the legacy of the Olympics and the inspiration that the medal successes will create for the next generation of sportsmen, women and paralympians. All of Team GB had an opportunity yesterday to say thank you to the unsung heroes of the games- supporters, volunteers, families, servicemen etc. It was overwhelming to see so many people in the streets of London shouting “Team GB, Team GB” and waving to us all on the floats. Check out the pictures after the cut of the 3 mile parade journey from Guildhall to Buckingham Palace.

Team GB Football | LDN 2012 Olympic Diary

posted by on 11/07/2012

We all know that it is a big deal when global sporting events such as the Olympics come around every 4 years. I’ll be honest and say that in the past, like many football fans, I have not always got into the Olympic spirit and only watched the odd exciting 100m athletics dash when Usain Bolt is running! However, I now have the privilege and the honour of being selected to represent Great Britain women’s football team at this year’s London Olympics. Now I totally understand what all the fuss is about. The event is just huge and all inspiring. We were briefed yesterday on the DO’s and DONT’s of athletes uses of social media (there are a lot of rules) during the games. Thankfully we are allowed to blog! So I feel blessed to be able to share my experience with Y&Y readers through a series of personal LDN 2012 Olympics posts over the next, hopefully, 5 weeks! See pictures of my first 2 days at Team GB after the jump.

Hola! It sure feels good to be back posting after a bit of a hiatus. Apologies for my lack of posts. I have been busy preparing for my legal practice exams for the past month or so and finally completed my exams last week. As they say in Nigeria, “No be easy ohhhh”!! Anyway, I am delighted to be back with my second instalment of “UnSung heroes” featuring drummer and producer Anthony “Sweetstix” Lewis. Anthony is a versatile and experienced drummer who has travelled the world supporting both UK and European artists such as Taio Cruz. He is a member of the London based alternative/pop group Velvet Stream who won MTV UK Brand new band of 2012. For those of you who are fans of The Voice, Anthony is also currently writing and producing for the talented Vince Kidd. Check out the insighful interview with Mr. Sweetstix after the cut.

Samsung Galaxy Note: David Beckham Commercial

posted by on 25/05/2012

In a world dominated by consumers who exclusively use either a Blackberry or an iPhone, it is perhaps fair to say that other phone brands have got their work cut out in trying to establish their share of the global market. Phone brands have got to catch our attention through advertising, brand development and of course developing cutting edge technology for the use of the phone. Samsung have certainly caught my attention after I just watched the David Beckham commercial endorsing the new Samsung Galaxy Note. Of course, anything that Becks endorses will sell but the phone also looks very impressive. Ironically, since I am pathetically loyal to Blackberry, I just upgraded my phone to the new Blackberry bold 9900 yesterday. However I am now thinking that I should definitely have considered the Galaxy note. Check the commercial and more details out after the jump.

The Kooples | Sport Collection

posted by on 08/03/2012

Quite some time has passed since Yin’s introductory post on the Kooples brand. The French brand have certainly gone from strength to strength by establishing themselves in the upper echelons of British high street fashion with over 20 stores in London alone now, not to mention department store concessions. I have always been a big fan of the Kooples clothing and really value the few pieces I have bought from the store. The branding based on the couples theme has always been strong and instantly recognisable so it is perhaps not surprising that the direction for the branding of the new sport collection completely works too. Who better to have as a face of the French brands sport collection than the iconic Frenchman Eric Cantona? More after the cut

Richard Swarbrick Animation | Luol Deng

posted by on 10/02/2012

Last year, I wrote a post on the incredible Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale animations by Richard Swarbrick. Since then I have kept an eager eye out for Swarbrick’s work and today I came across another of his animation masterpieces on Sudanese-British NBA basketballer Luol Deng. Without repeating all the superlatives I did in my previous post, again I will say that this Deng animation is just breathtaking. Check it out after the jump.
