Hair is something a man needs to take care of, and London is no stranger to barbers that understand this. When the £5-10 haircuts from your local bloke aren’t doing the job, there’s plenty of options to get a better experience and get your hair cut by someone who takes their time. With that in mind, I jumped at the opportunity when we recently got invited to get a cut at Ruffians barbers courtesy of their collaboration with Jura whisky for Burns Night weekend. I sipped some fantastic whisky and got myself a tidy up. Read on to see my thoughts on one of the best new(ish) barber shops around town.
Based in Covent Garden, Ruffians has a prime spot to draw i the crowds. With a front of house shop selling Ruffians own brand products amongst other bits and bobs, there’s also a bar for customers to enjoy a coffee and/or whisky before or after their appointment. The cuts aren’t cheap (full haircut including wash and use of product comes in at a whopping £45), but the whole experience is pretty awesome. Well designed interior merges the old with the new, and that’s what this Scottish barbers is all about. Front wash sinks and cut-throat shaves are combined with a state of the art vacuum brush mechanism that gets rid of all the loose hairs after a trim!
Joe gave me a great cut and the whisky from Jura was silky smooth. An all around great experience. Not to mention that their styling paste I’m using now is working wonders! If you can afford it, it’s worth treating yourself to a good cut once in a while. And while there’s plenty of trendy barbershops around town these days, Ruffians is one you need to check out.
