Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

GoPro: 9 Front Flips Off A Tower

posted by on 17/01/2015

If there’s one extra thing I wish I had while travelling, it’s a GoPro. The compact and sturdy little camera would have been useful more times than I can count, whether while trekking through the jungle or jumping off of a cliff. An SLR just isn’t always appropriate. Never, however, did I have the opportunity to anything quite this crazy and even with a GoPro, I don’t think the prospect of such incredible footage could have pushed me to even climb the structure. This is most definitely a video you’ll love if you have a fear of heights! Check it out after the break.

posted by on 16/01/2015

Usually crafting from scratch, bespoke clothing designer Timothy Everest began his campaign to promote his first ever traditional collection. I’d say he’s headed in the right direction for a first collection, he’s kept it clean and simple focusing on classic everyday style and familiar pieces like parka’s, gillets, tailored chinos and denim which can all be seen in the campaign film. More after the break.

FKA Twigs – Pendulum

posted by on 15/01/2015

Only yesterday Adam mentioned the beautiful FKA Twigs and her exceptional, attention grabbing, music videos. I’m so excited by Twigs creativity and her ability to treat everything she does as art. The track Pendulum features on last years LP1 and the video is in the typical style of the artist, dark and seemingly quite twisted (literally). Make your own interpretation after the jump.

Flying Lotus – Corunus, The Terminator

posted by on 14/01/2015

Can’t say I pay much attention to music videos, but that has changed somewhat as of late. Primarily because of what I’ve seen from the likes of FKA Twigs and Flying Lotus. Here he is again with an amazing video for Corunus, The Terminator. Directed by LA-based director Young Replicant, the video really encapsulates what the track is all about, and is filmed stunningly well. FlyLo comes to London on May 1st. Check out the video after the jump.

B+W Watercolours by Elicia Edijanto

posted by on 14/01/2015

There’s definitely an appreciation for black and white photography. The fact that the colours are missing can really make you focus more on the image. While it may not always be the most visually appealing photography with the lack of colours we’re so used to being exposed to every day, we can’t deny that taking away the colour really can add to an image. So, you ever seen black and white watercolour art? I certainly haven’t. And these pieces by Indonesian artist Elicia Edijanto are absolutely stunning. Beautifully simple visuals that are everything they need to be, even without the colour. She depicts vulnerable children alongside creatures of the wild such as wolves, bears and elephants. A real calmness about them, I feel. Check them out after the cut.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer 2

posted by on 13/01/2015

I’m not big on the superhero movies and I’m tired of every successful movie having to become a franchise. However I did love the first Avengers film, perhaps mostly for it’s sense of humour, there are so many quotables, and just the sense of excitement it made me feel. Which is exactly what the new trailer brings back, I mean, how can you not be excited by the prospect of The Hulk fighting a giant robot. Check out the trailer after the SMASH!

Litefeet | A Short Film by Scott Carthy

posted by on 06/01/2015

If all what’s going on with the police in the states right now isn’t enough to grind your gears, little things like banning (forcefully, of course) subway performers in New York City is also happening. One performance that goes on underground is “litefeet”, a dance style born from breakdancing that was, and still is, a huge part of culture in the Bronx from way back in the 70′s. Directed by Scott Carthy for Nowness, this short film takes a look at one of the litefeet dance crews. I’m not an NYC native, but I’m fully aware that things like this are part of NYC culture and it’s a damn shame that it’s getting taken away. There’s a difference between peacefully dealing with a situation and completely wiping it out – something the powers that be in the US never seem to get right.
