Man, life doesn’t quite feel the same since the World Cup ended. Rushing home to watch the daily 9pm game was something I could get used to. Football took over the world for 30 days; advertising, branding, food, collaborations, Rihanna and more; it was definitely eat, sleep, watch football. I’m always sceptical about collaborations and releases during such high profile events as 90% come across as money grabbing schemes with no real authenticity or purpose behind it. If you haven’t heard of Wong Wong then please click here and get acquainted. Football inspired design at its best, real minimalist and wearable on a day to day basis unlike your jersey. They’ve teamed up with one of my favourite brands for a special collaboration watch. More on the reverse.

Back in the day (I’m qualified to say that as I’m hitting 26 in less than two weeks time.) I used to wear football shirts on a regular basis, casually and not just to play in. As you grow up, you just don’t do that any more unless you want to be perceived as a chav or a full kit w*******. Wong Wong’s minimalist design perfectly fuses with the aesthetic of contemporary Swedish-English watch brand, Larsson and Jennings. I’ve been wearing mine everyday since I received one a few months back, beautiful understated Scandinavian design mixed with fine British materials. It instantly replaced my FuelBand on my wrist – not everything needs to be digital. Celebrate the analogue.
We were actually in the process of shooting some content for the brand for this collaboration but due to timings, it never worked out in the end but it’s great to see parts of our vision come to life in this nicely done still life laydown shoot. The watch mixes colour references from the Swedish and British national flags to create the classic Anglo-Swedish watch.
You can buy the watch from the site – click here. It’s limited edition so go go go!
