The Y&Y team are big fans of the folks over at VSCO. We are regular users of their iPhone app and editing presets, followers of their journal and a few of us even have our own VSCO grids (Adam, Niran). Posted on the VSCO blog recently was an introduction in to Create and Explore – a new initiative set up by the talented Ta-Ku. With the project being a collaboration of music and photography, Ta-Ku is the perfect curator to make this something visually and audibly fantastic. He pairs beat makers with photographers to create audio/visual stories that are truly captivating. The second instalment of the project brings together musician ESTA and photographer Michael Salisbury all graded using VSCO. Check it out after the cut.

“I’ve always been a strong believer that a piece of audio can be amplified ten-fold by an accompanying image or visual and vice versa,” he says. “The combination of the two really can be so powerful and tell such a detailed narrative with no words or explanation. I really think that’s special; so I wanted to capture that in the most organic way I could.”
ESTA is on the ridiculously awesome Soulection label that you should all know about by now (if not, find out), and Michael Salisbury is an engineer based in Chicago and is emerging in the photography scene. Ta-Ku gets to know the work of the artists involved, and curates a piece of audio and visual magic.
Create and Expore is definitely something to keep your eyes peeled for to discover brilliant visual/audio blends.
