We love our city. Yes, we all need escapes sometimes, but London is where we dream and chase those dreams. I’m taking my Through the Lens feature to the blog for a second to share some snaps of my favourite place on Earth – London. Google City Experts and BT invited us to an exclusive trip to the iconic BT Tower to learn some more history of the city, the tower and get some photos from the viewing gallery at the very top. It really was something special to see London from this high up, and watch how the city landscape changes it’s character from daylight to night time. Have a look at some photos below.

Leo Hollis, author of ‘Decoding the City’, put it well when he said London’s biggest and best asset are the people within it. He gave us all a quick chat on a brief history of London and said how one of the most important things to do when exploring London is to just walk around and get lost; to create your own narrative. I think this is true on so many levels. If you grew up in London, it’s easy to trap yourself around the walls and roads you’re used to. London, like many other cities, is a place to get lost in and to stumble across new discoveries every time.
Being lucky enough to have this view of London from the BT Tower was amazing. The 360 degree spinning viewing gallery made for a perfect platform to get a true sense of the vastness and beauty of London. As the sun set and the lights of the city came on, I was left speechless. I had never seen the city like this before, and many times I put my camera down and stood there in silence looking across the capital. Big thanks to the folks at Google and BT for a lovely evening.
