Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Yin&Yang x Dr. Martens – Stand For Something

posted by on 30/04/2014

Iconic British footwear brand, Dr Martens have returned with their successful ‘STAND FOR SOMETHING‘ campaign for SS14. The campaign revolves around the brand’s audiences rebellious and non-conformist spirit. The whole messaging around the campaign asks the question ‘What do you stand for?‘ as simple as that. What do you actually stand for? Take a moment to think about it. I was asked to part in a shoot with 3 others including photographer Garcon Jon and bloggers Mademoiselle Robot and Menswear Style. As you all know, I hate being on that side of the camera so it was an interesting experience.

Where Children Sleep by James Mollison

posted by on 29/04/2014

I wonder how many of us considered how lucky we were growing up to have that cosy bedroom with the Jurassic Park bed sheets, a book shelf full of Biff and Chip classics and a box of toys that had about as much meaning and relevance to our lives as the decisions made by those sitting in the seats of Parliament. Nothing mattered except our happiness and development. And that was because things were made easy for us. James Mollison is a heavily-awarded, Kenyan-born, England-raised, Venice-based photographer who has a passion for showing cultural diversity through his work. In 2011, he released a book called Where Children Sleep showcasing the material and cultural differences of children around the world, focusing on class, poverty and the diversity of the children. A portrait of a child is paired with a photo of his/her bedroom. This will open your eyes. Read on.

COMPETITION: Win A TRIWA – Sort of Black Watch

posted by on 29/04/2014

I can’t believe it’s almost May. What better way to keep track of the rest than with a new watch? As swanky as all the wearable fitness device clocks are, they can’t quite match up to the classiness of a watch. Triwa collaborates with Danish store Storm’s founder Rasmus Storm again for the second series of watches entitled Sort of Black. Epitome of Scandinavian style combining black and gold together to create a fine watch.

BACARDÍ – Untameable Since 1862

posted by on 29/04/2014

Everyone has a story – not just humans, even brands. Bacardí is a renowned name across the globe for its rum but much of its history is unknown. With over 150 years of history behind them the cuban family opens its archives to tell the brand’s heritage and roots through their new advertising campaign. The story takes us back to 1862 in Cuba where the journey has taken them through earthquakes, fire, wars and revolutions; to U.S. Prohibition and being exiled from Cuba to what it is today.

Newlyweeds | Film Review

posted by on 22/04/2014

On the aptly fitting 4/20 (or, Easter Sunday to most) I headed to the London screening of Newlyweeds, the dope stoners-come-love film written and directed by newcomer Shaka King and co-produced by The Wire actor Gbenga Akinnagbe. Newlyweeds is a hilarious, unpredictable Brooklyn tale of a tryst between the three characters – Lyle, Nina…and Mary Jane.

LET US ROAM | Short Films On Creativity & Skateboarding

posted by on 21/04/2014

Let Us Roam is an ongoing short film series supported by Leica Camera. The series features stories about photographers, artists, film makers and musicians who have come up through skateboarding culture. I can’t really give you the jibber jabber on the culture as my relationship with it goes as far as Tony Hawk’s Underground. That game did gas me to the point where I spent all birthday money on a board and protective pads to support me. I fell over once and never stepped foot on it again. First film in the series focuses on Ray Barbee, a legendary skateboarder with a multitude of skills in music and photography which came through skateboarding. If you’re passionate about creativity, then watch after the cut – he touches base on the topics on and how to relay his values onto his children.
