Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Mind. Blown. I do not know enough about computer-generated imagery to fully understand how this was made or where it could be applied. Nonetheless, this is stunning, is this the future of gaming and film graphics? How much more realistic can we get? So many questions! Check out Chris Jones‘ video in the post.

Rekindle

Benjamin Shine has come up with a simple but brilliant idea for all you candle lovers out there. He has designed a candlestick holder that shapes a new candle as the original candle burns. Aptly named Rekindle the device provides the melting candle wax with a cylinder mould for it to drip into and form a new candle. The cylinder has a centred wick enabling the user to simply break the new candle out of its cylinder casing and start using straight away. Definitely a good way to save money.

Nivea’s #Interngram

posted by on 16/02/2014

Who’s done an internship before? Who hasn’t? I’m looking at you 1st and 2nd year students, do it now! I can’t tell you enough how much of an impact my internship at We Are Social during my 2nd year break had on my career. It’s one of the main reasons I am where I am now and that opportunity came by chance – simply by asking if there was a place going after I had created a bit of content for our blog side. Voila. The good folks at Nivea want to make it easier for you, all you have to do is show your social media skills by taking a photo/video to bring one of their challenges to life and hashtag it with #interngram. More information on the reverse.

Dakar, Streets of Dreams | Short Film

posted by on 14/02/2014

Absolutely incredible. It’s films like this and Nike’s Undiscovered that make me want to get out of the office and play the beautiful game. A few days ago, I spent my afternoon at our old university, LCC, helping current students through a set of D&AD challenges – one of which asked how we could communicate around the world without a language barrier? Signs and visuals are one form of doing so. Football is also a universal language – the raw passion of the kids in Dakar is beautifully brought to life by this film. ‘In Africa, day after day, children play football endlessly everywhere, hoping to become the next Messi or Drogba’ that’s what it’s all about, it’s more than the money and bureaucracy of FIFA and branding, it’s something that gives these children hope for the future. Watch on reverse.

Kanye West – ‘Never Let Me Down’ Studio Session

posted by on 14/02/2014

College Dropout is without a doubt one of my favourite albums to date and probably the album of my teenage years. From the sampling, honest lyricism, features and more, Ye really set the standard high with his debut album. This song is easily in my Top 5 of all time, big statement right there but it brings back lots of good memories for me. Yeezy’s finest. Pharrell’s reaction in this studio session is priceless. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the album dropped that’s how you know you’re getting old.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 13/02/2014

Throwback Thursday this week is dedicated to British singer Craig David…. what ever happened to him? At one point he was at the top of his game, next minute he’s covering David Bowie tunes. Anyway I’ve chosen “7 Days” for this week’s throwback and it’s taken from his debut album “Born To do It” which I’m sure brings back memories. The track was released in 2000- I’ve said this in quite a few throwback posts…. but I feel old knowing it’s been fourteen years. Anyway this is a classic, enjoy!

UpShotTV – Adot’s Apprentice | Web Series

posted by on 12/02/2014

With my attention span at an all time low due to the saturated mediocrity that’s all over the web, it’s rare to come across a series as funny and well done as Adot’s Apprentice. Yes I may fall into the target audience being a young Londoner but comedian Adot’s acting skills and ‘aff’ accent should be able to make anyone laugh. Taking an interesting spin on the ever popular Alan Sugar show Apprentice, UpShotTV produced a 4 episode series with the help of Elevation Networks mockumenting what would happen if Adot was an African Alan Sugar. Watch all four episodes after the cut on your lunch break, or out of work hours in case you don’t want to be FIYADDD!
