Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Lynx Africa Turns 18

posted by on 16/12/2013

So Lynx Africa has been around for 18 years now. Yes, I said eighteen. How many of you feel ridiculously old now? All I can think of right now is the secondary school P.E changing rooms with the raw smell of sweaty young competitive males as they ever so hygienically throw their uniforms back on after an hour of dodgeball (somehow that’s a sport), and spend the next hour spraying themselves with a can of deodorant that resembles the cover art of ATCQ’s The Low End Theory album. Awesome. For this special occasion, Lynx have enlisted some of the UK’s top male illustrators to help them celebrate with 18 awesome pieces of work. Check out some of the Lynx Africa-inspired artwork after the cut.

When you think sportswear for Football, you think chavy jackets and scarves. There really isn’t anything cool about casual clothing for the sport whereas American sports have letterman jackets and iconic jerseys which are much more wearable off court. Nike have decided to create the sneaker for the everyday style that draws from the heritage of the boot that started it all. More on the reverse.

Swoosh Art by David Bedoni

posted by on 11/12/2013

When Italian creative David Bedoni isn’t busy being a filmmaker for some of the worlds top brands, he is the artist behind a nifty little idea that initially started out of boredom. Bedoni edits Victorian paintings by incorporating one of the most recognisable logo’s on the planet. It’s simple, stupidly creative and the result is a surprisingly refreshing clash of past and present that epitomise the meshing of influences in the modern design age.

Reflection #4

posted by on 10/12/2013

Goodness me, these past few months have been challenging to say the least. Churning out the level of content and maintaining the frequency is becoming harder with the intensity of our day jobs, as well as the big challenge of creating meaningful content that leaves an impact on the reader as opposed to regurgitated press drivel. Alas, I digress – this post is a reflection on the past few months since hitting 25. Age ain’t nothing but a number but hitting the quarter century mark has definitely made me reflect more and change my method of thinking on various subjects. After the cut, I’ll break down a handful of things that I’ve come to realise and a few learnings.

It’s been a minute since we put up an Eargasms post and for that I apologise but fear not as we are back with a new instalment. The Burrell Twins

posted by on 10/12/2013

I don’t really know much about boxing aside from watching the odd few world title fights on PPV at stupid o’clock. It’s always been a sport that I wanted to try out, mainly due to the heavy cardio/weights program. It’s one that will definitely get you into shape quickly. Director Femi, a long time friend of Y&Y’s latest documentary film focuses on up and coming boxers ‘The Burrell Twins‘ – Scott and Dean. The London-born duo relocated to the US after their graduation to train with legendary coach Hector Roca who’s responsible for a number of World Champions. The film takes a natural approach to telling their story from training to ringside at their debut fight in the UK. The grading and style filming makes the whole thing seem quite raw and authentic, like the boxers – not the most eloquent of people but you can feel the eagerness to get their journey under way.

River Island Spring/Summer 2014 Lookbook

posted by on 07/12/2013

Our good friends at River Island have released the lookbook for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 collection. During these miserable cold winter months its nice to see some colour. The bright and bold patterns makes me remember good times that I had this past summer. Now is the time where I start to scope out all the purchases I will be making next year and I can safely say that the black blazer with (probably faux) leather lapels and rounded collar will be on my list. Continuing on from this year it seems that mesh will be a big part of 2014 spring/summer collections and River Island has shown this with their all mesh jacket. Personally  don’t see the point of it but hey it looks ok in this lookbook I guess. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Lynx Africa 18

posted by on 07/12/2013

Let’s take it back 13 years back, secondary school days when you first started smelling a little funky after playground – what was the answer to your problems? Deodorant. My choice was always Lynx; Africa to be specific. I used it as if it was eau de toilette, a miracle solution to prevent me smelling like the District Line trains at 6pm. To celebrate the 18th birthday of Lynx Africa in London, they’ve created a well curated tumblr featuring 18 diverse pieces of art that pay homage to the its cultural heritage. Hop on after the cut to see more.

Nike #FlashRun with Nike+ Running

posted by on 06/12/2013

On Tuesday, I lit up the night with Nike. I was invited to join 50 or so runners – including special guests/Olympians Hannah England and Ross Murray – for a run-adventure through central London in Nike’s new reflective collection, Flash Pack. Meeting at Nike’s Covent Garden store, we were each given a Nike Flash Jacket and a pair of Nike Flash 5.0+ Shield Trainers and split in to teams to find out our special mission. Head under the cut to find out what went down.
