Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

What storm? I wrote this post at 9pm on Sunday so never know what happened overnight. I want to be able to hit the gym at 6am tomorrow one way or another, I’ll ever free run through trees that have come crashing down. Before I digress even further, here’s this week’s Eargasms choices on the reverse.

Adorn Remix

Oflynn hits us with another fantastic remix of Miguel – Adorn to add to our collection. Maybe the best one I’ve heard, too. The UK based house-producer moves away from the uptempo floorfiller Adorn remixes we are used to, and relaxes us with this soothing, downtempo version that works just perfectly. Great stuff indeed.

Win. Good end to the weekend with Lorde‘s EP being added to my iTunes library. Here’s the one of the tracks off it, Ribs. Ethereal goodness, Lorde sings in her same deep airy vocals whilst switching it up in the hooks with a higher voice. She sings about getting old and liking it. Don’t we all.

Also her thoughts on Blana Del Bludclart:

“She’s great, but I listened to that Lana Del Rey record and the whole time I was just thinking it’s so unhealthy for young girls to be listening to, you know: ‘I’m nothing without you’. This sort of shirt-tugging, desperate, don’t leave me stuff. That’s not a good thing for young girls, even young people, to hear.”

Evolution of Beyoncé

Man, what an arrangement. The way the group flow in and out of each of Bey’s classic tracks is mind-blowing. It seems like it was all done in one 6 minute take as well. Watch out for the dude in the blue who hits notes higher than the female singer, crazy.

Break from Toronto

The debut video (directed by Liam McRae) from Toronto native and the latest signee of the OVO rooster. Up until now, PartyNextDoor has steered clear of the limelight (in the footsteps of The Weeknd) since releasing his self-titled mixtape early this year but makes up for it in ‘Break from Toronto’ with a display versatility; switching between melodic rap and his contemporary R&B sound. The intro to the video (a sample from Miguel’s ‘Girl with the tattoo’) reflects the production quality on the album. My only criticism is I wish the track was longer…
