Over the last month the elusive street artist known as Banksy has been leaving his humorous mark all over The Big Apple. Maybe it is the rebel within me or just an intrigue for a masked crusader but I have always been a Banksy fan. I once queued for something like eight hours on the last day of Bansky’s exhibition in his home town of Bristol, it ended up being a bit of an anti-climax but I am still glad to say I went. He has been putting out a lot of art work while in New York so check out the full post for some of my favourite pieces.

Banky’s work is not spectacularly unique or groundbreaking but ironically this is what makes it interesting. Everything he creates holds a message, which again is not necessarily profound but it is done in a fun and humorous way that attracts the attention of people who would not perhaps be drawn to such a message through other mediums. For example in three separate pieces that are described as, “Random graffiti given a Broadway makeover,” the words ‘The Musical’ are placed under random pieces of graffiti; you get the feeling Banksy is criticising the way in which everything and anything can be turned into an over dramatised scandal. I am certainly not here to provide artistic criticism though so just enjoy the images below and check out Banksy NY for more.
