Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

FIVE/FIVE

‘…for that one moment to say that I can do it.’ Preach. Fascinating Monday morning watch to get you started on your week. Brandon Todd is a 5’5″ basketball player from Ohio who can dunk. He’s never believed his height should be a limitation but an opportunity to change how people view small athletes. He’s trained his ass off over the past few years, by gaining 80lbs of muscle and increasing his vertical jump to over 45 inches. Crazy. He shares his message in hopes to teach others that through hard work and perseverance physical limitations can be overcome. Shout out to the film makers who used a crop frame Canon 7D to film this beauty, really nicely put together – especially the grading.

Lacoste L!VE Pétanque Tournament

posted by on 29/09/2013

What happens when France’s biggest lux-sports brand give a bunch of hipsters an open space and a set of balls? Lots of laughter, ball-tekkers, tense competition and a whole lot of trash-talk. On Thursday 26th September Y&Y took part in Lacoste UK’s first ever L!VE Pétanque Tournament. Joined by the teams behind many of London’s top fashion and lifestyle sites, we were competing against each other from outside of our comfort zones – so not from behind our laptops or at an image-hipster event – to celebrate the launch of the LACOSTE L!VE LAB collection. Read on to see how we threw it down (literally) and came a very respectable second-place.

Samsung – Over To You

posted by on 29/09/2013

As we know, brands are ensuring that every new handset has a level of functionality that makes it impossible for us to see our phones as just phones. The smarter our smartphones get, the more they become a part of our lifestyle. Samsung is no exception. Apple’s biggest rivals’ new range of Galaxy phones have boasted skills that puts them ahead of other handsets in the market, but their latest campaigns sees them using some familiar faces on the creative scene and regular consumers to show just how to put the skills to test. BMX pro Harry shows the S4′s slow-motion functionality, while Shadez The Misfit teases a new song and exhibits it’s double-camera filming feature in the recording studio. Suffoca take the S4 Active underwater, and Isamaya FFrench creates art with her phone. Check out the videos under the cut.

Strangers in Chicago

These are incredible! the level of detail in each of these shots is exceptional, the off-camera flash technique perfectly captures each rain drop as well as the mysterious ghostly silhouette. Japanese photographer Satoki Nagata has certainly mastered this technique over the past two years, I’ve never seen anything like it before. He actually moved to America after gaining a PhD in Neuroscience but only to drop his job to pursue a full-time career in photography without any formal education in the field. Brave – wish I had the balls to do that. More imagery on the reverse.

007 Fragrances – Quantum

posted by on 28/09/2013

I had the pleasure of being introduced to this male fragrance in the most exciting of ways. Whisked off to the Luton Hoo where I dined in style, I was met by James Bond stunt driver Ben Collins, a.k.a The Stig, and presented with six gorgeous Land Rovers, our mission, off-road driving. Now what was the meaning of all this I hear you ask, well check out the full post for more details.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX

posted by on 26/09/2013

Amazon changed the way in which we consume books. They turned non readers into avid readers via the release of a hand held device and have continued to release new and improved versions of that device. This month sees the release of a new and improved version of their Kindle Fire HD tablet dubbed the Kindle Fire HDX. The new incarnation will have double the memory of the current Fire HD and triple the processing power. A 17 hour battery life when reading along with a ‘Mayday’ button, which allows users to contact an Amazon expert quickly and directly, are housed in a magnesium unibody. The HDX is available for pre order now ahead of its October 18th release. More details on the flipside.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 26/09/2013

For Throwback Thursday this week, we’ve picked some more 90′s R&B/Hip-Hop. The track is by one of Diddy‘s Protegé’s in the late 90′s, Mase (now a Pastor). Taken from his debut album ‘Harlem World‘ (quite a good one I might add), it features a group called Total, I had no idea… I just thought the hook was sung by a cousin or something! It’s called “What You Want” and was on the soundtrack album for Save The Last Dance, arguably one of maybe four decentt dance films. Anywho, I love this tune. It’s always been on my “chill and bop head”  and “two-step” playlists. Watch after the break
