Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

This Is Vanity | Short Film

posted by on 22/07/2013

It’s very rare that I sit down at the computer and watch a film whether it be long or short. However this past weekend I done just that as I stumbled across a short film entitled ‘This Is Vanity‘. The short paragraph explaining the films premiss intrigued me so I decided to watch, thank god I did. The Oliver Goodrum directed piece is full of angst, raw emotion and is gritty as can be. The rawness of the piece heightens the sense of emotion and truly allows the viewer to become engrossed in the story and feel sorry for certain characters. Alexander Craig has done a wonderful job with the writing of this piece and has let on that there is to be a sequel entitled ‘This Is Iniquity‘. There’s no doubt i’ll be sharing that with you all as soon as it is released, until then please take some time to watch the first in what I hope will turn out to be a trilogy of films.

Dining @ Boisdale Bishopsgate

posted by on 22/07/2013

Lucy and I hit up one of Bishopsgate’s hidden gems for the full Boisdale experience! Boisdale offer traditional British cuisine with a twist. To avoid any confusion, Boisdale is pronounced “Boys-dayle“. Yes I did think it was French and therefore pronounced it “bwah-dayle”…. Read all about it after the break.

Zane Lowe Meets Jay-Z

posted by on 19/07/2013

All week Zane Lowe has been dropping instalments of his lengthy interview with Jay-Z. I had resisted the opportunity to post each instalment as and when it dropped because I wanted to present it to you in one go. As much as I love the way Zane and the BBC decided to release this interview, I know that for some consuming something all at once is the preferred option. In this interview Zane and Jay talk about the new album Magna Carter Holy Grail, Fame, Business & Politics and finally Family. It’s clear that Zane and Jay has some form of friendship whereby Jay feels or seems to feel entirely conformable opening up and talking. Zane is a huge music enthusiast and strays away from the typical reporter questions which allows him to get more out of Jay than a regular interviewer would be able to. You’ll see that Jay relishes these types of conversations about music and life in general and as a viewer you’ll be thankful for the way Zane conducted this interview. Get inside the mind of Jay-Z just for a little bit and have a peep. Enjoy!

Better late than never. My sincerest apologies, work has got the better of me this week with deadlines upon deadlines. Alas, I won’t bore you with that talk. You’ll see the fruits of these decks soon in the real world, I hope. Hop on after the cut for a selection of our favourite songs from the week.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 18/07/2013

This week’s throwback is a track by Ludacris, it’s taken from his third album “Chicken -n-Beer” which was released in 2003. It’s called ‘Stand Up’ and you absolutely will remember it or at least the video. I love this tune, great beat, clever/tongue-in-cheek lyrics and the video was quite funny too- which is one of the things I liked about Ludacris, he didn’t seem t take himself too seriously. Watch ‘Stand Up’ after the break.

Lookbook | McQ By Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2014

posted by on 17/07/2013

It’s been a while since i’ve uploaded a lookbook. Today I bring to you Alexander McQueen and their McQ by Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Tartan, denim, graffiti print and logo adorned basics all contribute and play a role in this 90′s club scene inspired collection. If your a fan of crosses and colour blocking then this collection is for you. As with all collections you’ll find a few pieces that you like but discard the rest, sometimes the way the pieces are styled makes a huge impact on the way we view that particular piece. My advice is always to go and peep the collection up close before making a purchase.

Nike – Nature Amplified

posted by on 16/07/2013

Well what do we have here, I’m sure most of you social media active folks have already heard the news regarding Nike’s latest unveiling – The Free Flyknit. Before y’all start complaining about it’s appearance, it’s a performance shoe not a lifestyle everyday NSW shoe. I’ve told you how I felt about the Nike Free in the past, it’s not the best looking shoe but functionality and comfort-ability wise – it stands head and shoulders above most. The sneaker gods over at Nike HQ have combined the staple Free 5.0 sole with the form-fitting Flyknit upper with the dynamic flywire to provide extra-added. They’ve also unveiled several new apparel items as part of the new Natural Amplified collection More on the reverse.

Jay-Z’s 99 Problems

posted by on 16/07/2013

Everyday there’s a new tumblr that blows up in the digital world, usually of LOLcats, gifs and memes which cater to the social media g33ks. Today’s one was somewhat different, all original illustrations created by Ali Graham who takes Jay-Z’s lyrics and turns into a humorous series of visuals. Have a gander after the cut and see if you can recognise any of the lyrics.

Faces by Vince Low

posted by on 16/07/2013

‘Faces’ is a design project by Malayasian artist Vince Low. Put simply, the project is a series of portraits featuring some familiar faces. Portraits are always really impressive but for me it’s Vince’s technique that stands out here. It looks like he has scribbled all over the place and ended up with these amazing pieces. When actually the level of intricacy and skill is quite apparent, just look at the detail and the shading- Vince has managed to bring these faces to life with his own unique technique. You should recognise each of the ‘familiar faces’ after the break.

Justice for Trayvon Martin

posted by on 15/07/2013

Yesterday (Sunday 14th) I awoke to the news that George Zimmerman had been acquitted for the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. I won’t chronicle the details of the case or the trial, I’ll just say I spent the morning struggling to absorb the flagrant message Florida sent the USA and the world that murdering a minor because of the colour of his skin is okay. I’m still struggling with it.
