Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

How the World Ends: According to Hollywood

posted by on 28/06/2013

You would be forgiven for thinking the end is nigh if you watch enough Hollywood disaster flicks, and there seem to be a lot around at the moment. The release of World War Z is the latest of these sour tales of apocalypse and destruction and to mark the occasion, Yahoo have produced a tongue-in-cheek info graphic documenting how the world ends according to Hollywood. Featuring everything from the worst danger zones to famous landmarks to avoid, it’s the definitive guide to surviving impending doom. Infographic after the break

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 27/06/2013

Gah, there’s so much talk about Yeezus. Everyone’s a music critic, in fact, everyone’s a music guru all of a sudden with their opinion on how ‘Ye could create a masterpiece. Personally I’m not a fan of most of the album and it’s not the type of hip-hop I dig – there’s too much going on and a little too angry for my liking. Anyway, there’s one track that stood out for me; Bound 2. Charlie Wilson’s hook and the sample are infectious, you’ll be singing it after a few plays. Head on after the cut to listen to the original track from the Ponderosa Twins.

Get Inspired 365

posted by on 27/06/2013

My friend put me onto this site a few days back, surprised I hadn’t stumbled on it before. It’s a simple concept, a new piece of inspiration on a daily basis. The one yesterday was perfect for that early morning gym session. ‘Rise and shine. 6am and your hand can’t make it to the alarm clock before the voices in your head start telling you that it’s too early, too dark, and too cold to get out of a bed.’ I know that feeling all too well. Just the uplifting morning talk you need, watch it on the reverse then get up and go mofos.

Why Kanye thinks he’s Yeezus

posted by on 24/06/2013

It’s been just over a week since Kanye West’s Yeezus has been in our aural consciousness and since it’s been the top (or at least top 3) of the most discussed releases this week. And it’s just been announced as #1 in the UK album charts. I’m not about to offer any words about the material itself. If you’ve been trawling the music-webs in the past week you’ve read more than enough reviews about the album, from twitter to dissertations and you’d care as little as I do about hearing my week-old thoughts on it. I’m not even about to share my opinion on Kanye’s current behaviour – Dipo has done it more eloquently than I could ever hope to. Instead, I want to dissect the record’s title, and look at why I reckon Kanye naming his album Yeezus and featuring songs like “I am a God” is less about Kanye being a massive narcissistic egomaniac (he is) and has more to do with the current climate of hip hop as a culture. In Yeezus’ name, flip the lid and keep reading.

Solidus – Farther Sail | Short Film

posted by on 21/06/2013

Here’s some beautiful visual inspiration for your gloomy Friday morning in London. Solidus is the side company/collaborative project of wedding storytellers Velare Imaginarium, who we featured a few months back. Here’s a tiny preview of what’s to come from the new company, a collection of faces, places and experiences captured in their journey over the past year. Shot on location in a plethora of places around the globe: Kyrgyzstan, India, Kenya, Brazil, Morocco, France, Ireland, New Orleans, LA, NYC, Miami, San Fransisco, Austin and Denver. I just love their style of film making – the light grading, variety of clips and the poetry backing track from Walt Whitman just work so well together. Watch on the reverse.

Video On Instagram

posted by on 21/06/2013

R.I.P to the app you used to know it’s days are over is what Rita Ora will be singing about Twitter‘s video sharing app Vine. She’ll be singing this because yesterday Facebook‘s Instagram announced that it now has video sharing capabilities. 15 second video clips can be made and altered with 13 brand new specifically built filters and shared with others in exactly the same way as pictures. So what does the future hold for Vine and will you be using the new video sharing function on Instagram or do you feel that it is an unwelcome addition. Watch the short video clip when you read on to see how the new video function works within the app.
