Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Zara Man Spring/Summer Lookbook 2013

posted by on 25/05/2013

Zara have put out their Spring/Summer lookbook for this year- it’s not a standard Zara lookbook, a standard Zara lookbook isn’t a bad thing, I just think this magazine spread style concept is refreshing. They’ve put together a selection of looks all in keeping with the spring/summer season- which we’re currently not experiencing. Comprising mostly of smart/casual ensembles of tailoring, lightweight knitwear and linen shirts- again, Zara have kept it very simple. Each look is paired with an accessory and a mini description  I love the slick art direction, it’s given the brand that glossy look. Lookbook after the break.

The Story of the 501 Jean

posted by on 23/05/2013

Gosh I’ve been ghost this week, work has been beyond chaotic and with me going away tomorrow at 6am – I just haven’t had time to sit down and write on here. Brain fried, alas time to pay homage to the blue jean. Y’all may have already seen that this week marks the 140th Birthday of the Levi’s 501 Jean. It’s the denim of all denim, the one that started it all. Levi’s takes it all the way back 1863 when it was birthed to how it has evolved since then adapting to each era and how it has influenced culture through the all those decades. We’ll be paying homage in our very own way next week, hold tight.

Nudie Jeans Repair

posted by on 23/05/2013

Little me tell you a little story. Once upon a time I Daniel Jordan Bailey (DJB) went bowling with a few friends. I was smashing it, hitting strikes and spares left right and centre, I was feeling like a KIng compared to my substandard opponents until I ripped my jeans right down the middle #EpicFailure. Although this happened quite some time ago I kept the jeans and have stored them in my wardrobe in the hope they will somehow self heal. Fortunately I no longer have to wait for a miracle to happen thanks to Swedish denim experts kings Nudie Jeans. They have come to London and have set up shop on the corner of Soho’s Berwick Street and D’Arblay Street. What is great is that they have included a Global Repair Station where customers can have their jeans altered or repaired for free by the Nudie Denim Specialist. I imagine that the service would come at a cost if the jeans aren’t their brand (at least I hope otherwise its back to praying for a miracle for me). The store is kitted out with a semi raw and vintage look which very much suits the imagined aesthetic of a denim specialist, Ambiance is key :)

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 23/05/2013

Today’s Throwback Thursday is sure to put a smile on the face of those who love them some 90′s R&B. I’ve been armed with the task of creating a classic collection of 90′s R&B hits for a work colleague and while doing so I was presented with a barrage of possible Throwback options. I decided to go with a track that was released in 2000, yes I know i’ve been banging on about 90′s R&B but this still has that 90′s feel. A vibe that continued into the early 2000′s. Let’s not get bogged down with the technicalities and just enjoy the track. Everybody hit play on Ideal‘s ‘Whatever‘ after the cut.

posted by on 21/05/2013

Who else thought that Sony’s big announcement regarding the Playstation 4 a few months back was a complete and utter let down. Since that very pointless event not much has been said about the impending PS4 until yesterday. Well not much was said yesterday but a video was released teasing the new console and indicating it’s official announcement will take place June 10th at the electronic megashow E3. Bring on June 10th!!!

The History of Typography by Forrest Media

posted by on 20/05/2013

It’s easy to forget that typography is all around us and appreciate just how much of an important role it plays in the branding and presentation of absolutely everything that is legible in every day life. So from time to time it’s nice to be reminded just how it all began, especially when the method is executed as creatively as this. This paper-letter animation was created by Ben Barrett-Forrest and his 140 hours of labour result in this remarkable animated short, which features 291 paper letters in 2,454 photos.

Sleeping Arrangements @ Landor Theatre

The best selling Sophie Kinsella novel turned musical follows the lives of two couples whose paths manage to cross whilst on vacation in sunny Spain, but not all is what it seems as an old romance is rekindled. From the very moment the musical started, the audience were transported from the everyday lives of both families, to the picturesque Spanish villa staging, which made for a great scenic backdrop for the drama to take place. Levi’s Vintage Clothing Autumn/Winter 2013 Lookbook

posted by on 18/05/2013

With the rise of social media/internet, all brands are now utilising their channels for showcasing different bits of content to engage with the consumer. Lookbooks are becoming more and more common, somewhat saturated area where a lot of brands really don’t know how to flip the switch and doing something creative. So it’s nice to see a brand that adds substance and heritage to their collection with the good ol’ days vibe taking it back to the 60′s to explore the Motown era. It’s beautifully shot and compiled together using a mixed camera mediums from what I can see, the clothing also compliments this era in time too with shawl collar coach jackets, leather bomb jackets and denim. More on the reverse.
