Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Aurelie Curie - Above

Enjoying 2013 so far? We’re back to regular programming here at Y&Y so expect posts on a daily basis from now on. Starting off the year with some insane work from a young Seattle-based photographer, Aurelie Curie. She’s an urban explorer, one that’s certainly not afraid to climb up to the top of skyscrapers and various bridges to capture quite insane imagery. Her models? are people who aren’t afraid of the following: posing in unusual/possibly dirty, illegal or dangerous location, including but not limited to: abandoned buildings, rooftops, caves, mines, storm drains, sewers, and transit tunnels according to her ModelMayhem page. The imagery speaks for itself – Curie takes us on adventure through her city via various rooftops. More on the reverse.

Nicole Lavelle – Word Up Project

Nicole Lavelle - Word Up Project

I think all of us at Yin & Yang would agree that we love all that is creative and very often simplicity is the key. As part of her Word Up project, Nicole Lavelle offers to handwrite something, or should I say anything, for you. It’s as simple as that. As an English student I really appreciate the power of words, but it doesn’t take some old twerp droning on from the front of a lecture theatre to understand what Nicole Lavelle is doing here. She’s creating a piece of art that is both personal and new every time. A favourite poem, family saying, a list of places you want to travel to or a song your mum used to sing to you are just a few of the suggestions she has but really you have freedom to choose whatever words you wish. That’s the beauty of art, right? Freedom to create and express oneself.

Mike Hough – Stained: The EP

Stained MH

Out with the old and in with the new is the motto for every New Year, so it’s only right that I bring to you some fresh new music. Friend of Y&Y Mike Hough has been hard at work preparing a New Years Day gift for his fans in the form of his new EP entitled Stained. Yesterday he gave me a early preview and all I can say is this guy knows how to write a song. Everybody talks about how they are going to detox their bodies or cleanse their soul every January but I say why not cleanse your music library. Get it in order and add some new musical goodness, you can never have too much. Head on over to the flip side and grab yourself Stained: The EP by Mike Hough.
