Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

Boom. It’s been a while since I took this post over from DJB and co – not entirely sure what song to pick, several from my childhood playing around in my head. I can’t quite figure out why this character was such big inspiration of mine and my friends younger years; he was genius comedian, fitter than your personal trainer and now a Hollywood star. Guess who I’m talking about? He did experiment with music too. Hop on after the cut.

Topman Generation – London Collections Men

Topman Generation - London Collections

Bit weird for us to be talking about a site that covers very similar content to our own right? TOPMAN Generation has been around for a while, we first posted about in November 2011 when it launched. If you click the link to my old post, you’ll know the design and layout of it didn’t please me at all, I’m glad to say they’ve refreshed the design. This week to celebrate January’s London Collections Men, the retailer is giving away a print magazine with some of the top articles from the digital zine so far. You’ll also be able to find it at some of the Menswear giant’s retail stores. Be sure to check it out, you may even see a quote from us in it. More on the reverse.

Jack & the Beanstalk @ Stratford Theatre Royal

It’s that time of the year again whereby heroes are cheered and villains are booed upon, whereby slapstick is a way of life and pantomime dames rule the roost. The well-known tale of a young boy who trades the family’s treasured pet cow for several ‘magical’ beans is given a new lease of life in Paul Sirett’s adaptation for the Theatre Royal Stage. 2012. 366 days. 366 seconds.

2012. 366 days. 366 seconds

You can have the best visuals but if they’re not edited properly nor have a purpose then it’s not going to turn out right. Jonathan Britnell knew what he was doing from the start when he set out to create his 366 project to recap 2012. He’s filmed at least one second for each day of the year and then edited it together to create this simple yet beautiful short film. Love the song too, super positive and happy. 2012 was a great year. 2013 will be even better. Right? Watch on the reverse.

Hackett London Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection

posted by on 09/01/2013

A lot has caught my eye so far at London Collections: Men; in particular the collections showcased by MAN, Lou Dalton, Richard Nicoll and of course the Topman Design collection that we have already featured. What stands out about the Hackett London collection, as you would expect, is how British it is. From the bowler hats to the Oxford shoes, it just oozes British fashion and what better place to put it on display than London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral. At Yin & Yang we love to celebrate all that is great about London and it seems Hackett want to do the same, let me break it down briefly.

I’m a newbie to these Nike Fuel bands, but doing the Nike Fuel Challenge has encouraged me to make a few small changes throughout my day and I do not mean waving my arms about at every opportunity!! My activity over the last few days has been quite varied; between working, going to the gym, chilling at home and Azonto’ing on Friday night; I would say the latter raked in the most points. Topman Design Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection

Topman Design lcm

This week sees Menswear from a range of different brands being showcased at London Collections Men. Yesterday (7th January 2013) saw Topman Design take centre stage at their Topman show space where their 2013 Autumn/Winter collection was presented. Although an Autumn/Winter collection the set has room for much colour rather than the typical muted tones that tend to crop up in many A/W collections, the bright oranges, reds and yellows make for a nice surprise. I personally love the knitted jumper which can be seen in a number of colours throughout this collection. What is slightly concerning though is the repeated mistake of adding a crop jacket to a mens collection, I am genuinely am baffled by their inclusion but hey each to their own I guess. Peep the collection after the cut.

Afterlife: The Beauty of Rotten Food

posted by on 07/01/2013

heikki leis photography afterlife

For most people the discovery of mouldy rotten food is a nightmare but for Estonian photographer Heikki Leis, it’s a photo opportunity as his Afterlife exhibition demonstrates. His macro shots of fruit and vegetables are both rich in detail and face-crunchingly disgusting but oddly enough that is what makes his photography so fascinating. Leis who got the idea after leaving food in a pot too long ended up purposely leaving food in dishes for up to two months and the results are unpredictable and curiously stunning. Guess which one is the potato.
