So ‘what is on this week?’ you ask… Barbican’s ‘Rain Room’ by Random International,Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2012’ at the ICA this Thursday and ‘Painting From Life: Carracci Freud’ at the Dulwich Picture Gallery on Saturday. It should also be noted that Supa Dupa Fly is back on Friday night, more after the break.

Random International: Rain Room @ Barbican
Ending 3rd March 2013
Random International invites you to experience what it’s like to control the rain. Visitors can choose to simply watch the spectacle or find their way carefully through the rain, putting their trust in the work to the test. More than the technical virtuosity necessary for its success, the piece relies on a sculptural rigour, with the entire Curve transformed by the monumental proportions of this carefully choreographed downpour and the sound of water.



William Klein + Daido Moriyama Exhibition @ Tate

With work from the 1950s to the present day, the exhibition demonstrates the visual affinity between their urgent, blurred and grainy style of photography and also their shared desire to convey street life and political protest, from anti-war demonstrations and gay pride marches to the effects of globalisation and urban deprivation.




Tim Walker: Storyteller @ Somerset House

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of events that feature many of Tim Walker’s long-time collaborators and uncover the influences and stories behind his work. There will be workshops for all ages offering visitors the opportunity to work with some of the set designers and prop builders who have worked with Tim Walker throughout his career

Bloomberg New Contemporaries returns to the ICA for the third year running. This year’s selectors Cullinan Richards, Nairy Baghramian, and Rosalind Nashashibi have chosen defining works by the most promising artists coming out of UK art schools from a range of over 1,200 submissions.

Painting From Life: Carracci Freud @ Dulwich Picture Gallery

Dulwich Picture Gallery will revive an old tradition of sending its paintings to central London when it exhibits one of its major works this autumn in Painting from Life:Carracci Freud at Ordovas. The exhibition will bring together a striking group of head studies by the great 17th century Bolognese painter, Annibale Carracci (1560–1609), and Lucian Freud (1922–2011), recognised today as one of the foremost painters of the 20th century.
