I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that a single well taken image can evoke emotions within you and nothing has reinforced that more recently than Tim Flach’s latest exhibition. ‘More Than Human’, an extraordinary collection of intimate studio portraits of wild animals that completely break from the conventions of wildlife photography.
The London-based photographer’s background in commercial photography having worked with clients such as Adidas, Sony and Jaguar seems to have influenced his stylised perspective of shooting animals and these stunning close ups are the result. The notion of connecting us with different species that we would otherwise feel disconnected from is the most fascinating aspect of Flach’s work and this is as you focus on the animals expressions and gestures reading their body language to interpret their emotions in a way that we would do with other humans.
The photos will be exhibited at the Osborne Samuel Gallery in Mayfair from December 5th.
