They say that shoes make the man, well gentlemen with over 250 brands spread over 15,000 square feet, consider yourself made! Last week Selfridges London opened the doors to the largest mens shoe department in the world, with a stock of over 72,000 pairs of shoes, bespoke brand boutiques and a made-to-order shoe salon which gives you the option to select the leather, colour, stitching and sole of your shoe. Burberry, Prada and Tom Ford are just some of the many big name brands available but if, like myself, your pockets are not bulging with pink notes, then you can just as easily pick up a pair of Vans or Nike high tops. Selfridges also have plans for the future of the department with space for pop-up shops, exclusive collaborations and customisation services, all of which I am sure will lead the way in the ever developing world of mens fashion. In February 2013, designer Christian Louboutin is set to showcase a collection in a dedicated boutique, not that I could afford that little bit of plastic at the end of the shoelaces, however I am sure it will be worth a look.
