Tucked away behind the national theatre, lay another place. A magical place. With high circus like ceilings and a moody, opulent & sexy interior ‘FOREVER CRAZY’ made sure that everyone knew that they were in town. When Y&Y were invited, I jumped at the chance. Resident sex writer, this was the thing #BSAL dreams were made of. For years I watched Liza Minnelli, Betty Paige and the burlesque queen, Dita Von Teese, with the hope that one day, I could sneak a peak into their world.

Once seated at my table, the wait was over. The electric atmosphere simmered to silence as a silent black & white movie began, displaying the femme fatales getting dolled up. In a trance, I watched as the screen fell away to reveal eight naked women dressed in nothing but grenadier attire. With cutting precision they delivered a march that brought the house down. An ex dance student, I appreciated the canon choreography and the obvious classical dance training.

Their bodies while very unlike my own and those displayed in hip-hop videos- were beautiful. Lithe limbs exploded through glitter, and excellent lighting. Lip syncing their way through various Cabaret numbers, each woman had her chance to shine. A personal fav was ‘Jungle Girl‘ naked as the day she was born with only well placed leopard print projection to protect her modesty; she hung herself like cat from her cage like stage setting. Once the intermission came, I was able to really observe the audience. To my surprise it was female heavy and dotted with couples that were both thoroughly enjoying the view.

Just as I thought I’d died and gone to heaven, a segment called ‘Up and Over It’ began.

‘A man!’ All the women gasped as if we had not seen one.

There had been no talk of testosterone on the stage but not a soul was complaining as he & a female member began to River dance, WITH THEIR HANDS! It was at this moment, I truly appreciated cabaret and the fulfillment shows such as ‘FOREVER CRAZY‘ can bring.

As the night drew to an all to soon close, you could tell that there was sadness in the air. No one wanted to return to reality. This dream full to the brim with Lashes, Lips & Legs was suiting us all just fine. While one would think that I only enjoyed it because it’s my job, ask Derek to confirm its excellence. I want to thank Crazy Horse for reminding me that its find to be ‘FOREVER CRAZY‘.
