Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Lookbook | Saint Laurent Paris 'The Skinny Collection'

posted by on 05/10/2012

Following on from their 2013 Spring/Summer Ready To Wear Collection Lookbook Saint Laurent Paris have revealed some extra goodies. Dubbing this latest lookbook ‘The Skinny Collection’ the collection of photos showcases a range of denim jackets, shirts and some leather jackets. The collection is notably much more toned down and has less of a wow factor compared to the Ready To Wear collection, however it serves its purpose and allows Hedi Slimane to express the diversity he may aim to bring to YSL. View the lookbook, which was shot by Slimane himself (as was the Ready To Wear Lookbook), when you read on.

Nokia Lumia 920 Ad | Time to #Switch

posted by on 04/10/2012

Apple are getting it left right and centre from other mobile dispensers and the latest to hit out is Nokia. The once upon a time monopoly took aim at Apple this week with their ad; the animated ad sets the scene in dreary looking society where everyone moves in unison to purchase the new iPhone. One man in the queue looks particularly uninspired by his new purchase and its lack of colour; suddenly colour bursts into the scene and people begin walking by with the new Lumia instead. Nike – Parallel Journeys | Advert

posted by on 04/10/2012

First of two Nike posts today, again I promise I’m not being paid for these. They just happen to have the resource to consistently keep knocking out these flawless advertising campaigns worldwide, this sport titled ‘Parallel Journeys‘ is probably one of the best I’ve seen from them. It’s set in my motherland so I instantly have a soft spot for it; the advert focuses on the millions of young cricket athletes in India who relentlessly seek perfection in their craft, no matter where they are or where they play. I feel it perfectly documents the passion for cricket back home, from the town kids to professionals, Cricket to India is what Football is to England. It’s more than just a sport. Throwback Thursday

posted by on 04/10/2012

I h’actually stole this post off DJB who had already selected a song – it’s my time b*tch. Let’s take it way back to 1995, I was 7 years old and definitely DID NOT know what this song meant, yet I was mumbling along to this lyrics and calling myself Mr. Fantastic haha. It’s one of those songs that you’ll never be able to decipher all of the lyrics, pretty sure he’s talking jibberish – someone translate! Hop on after the cut.

Saint Laurent 2013 Spring/Summer Lookbook

posted by on 04/10/2012

Hedi Slimane joined forces with YSL and took over as Creative Director. As Creative Director he has made a statement by changing up quite a few things. First off, for those who don’t know Saint Laurent Paris, formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent, is the new name of their Ready To Wear collection. New packaging has been presented as well as Slimane showcasing his vision for how the new Saint Laurent stores will look. He has truly made his mark, however it wasn’t until this week when the brand released the lookbook for their upcoming 2013 Spring/Summer collection that fans got to see what impact he was to have on the actual fashion. Fans of Slimane will be pleased to know the he has not lost the aesthetic that he was known for when working for Dior Homme. Definitely a fresher take on a YSL collection, Slimane brings forward his love of muted tones, slim cut suits and that whole glam rock vibe with a splash of gold, bronze and glitter. This collection is giving me Adam Lambert tease however I really like it!

Check it out after the cut.

Lookbook Breakdown – Edwin A/W 2012

posted by on 03/10/2012

Following on from my previous post on the style inspiration I found in hit movie Lawless, I am again going to return discussion to the heritage and workwear trend looking at Edwin’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. “Heritage and workwear, not again…” I hear you say and for that reason, let us this time leave these words at the door and not confine ourselves to their associations.

Mercedes-Benz Launch #YouDrive Social TV Campaign

posted by on 03/10/2012

Mercedes Benz seeks to innovate with their new social media and TV combined campaign to promote their new A-Class. Utilising X-Factor’s ad breaks and Twitter to drive the action of a three-party story shown this weekend (Saturday 6th – 7th) – I remember hearing how much 30 seconds costs during one of those ad breaks through a work thing, let’s just say 6 digit number was mentioned. Crazy. The German manufacturer and their advertising agency AMV are certainly ambitious with this event which allows X-Factor viewers to interact and decide on what happens next. More on the reverse.

NotFound.Org – Utilising 404 Error Pages For A Good Cause

posted by on 03/10/2012

Absolutely brilliant concept, surprised no one has come up with this before? Missing Children Europe (MCE) in cooperation with Child Focus launched the NotFound project yesterday. This initiative allows website owners to utilise the usually dull and boring ‘not found pages’ – the 404 error pages into missing children messages. If you’re a website owner, then definitely hop on after the cut to find how you can get involved. I’ll need to hit up a coder to sort it out for me!

Hardy Amies Signature Eyewear Collection

posted by on 02/10/2012

As a blogger I find myself trawling the internet stumbling on numerous articles and features that appeal to me as well as appealing to the Y&Y audience. However its very rare that I stumble across something that immediately screams Yin&Yang. This new lookbook featuring British brand Hardy Amies and their debut Eyewear Collection, which they have called Signature, is the first lookbook in a long time to make me instantly be reminded of the aesthetic and ambiance that Y&Y portrays. Its clean, its fresh and most of all its simple and for those very reasons it struck a chord in me that made me instantly like the collection.
