Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

posted by on 13/10/2012

Tim Burton returns to his film-making roots with the new stop motion animated flick Frankenweenie. Opening the 56th BFI London Film Festival, this passionate feature-length adaptation of one of the director’s short films (now a cult classic) is certainly one of the auteur’s better efforts in recent times.

In September, we were invited down to Manchester‘s infamous ‘Northern Quarter‘ to celebrate the launch of Bench‘s new concept store. Blurring the lines which define a traditional retail store, Bench is encouraging collaborative community projects. Check out the photo story after the cut.

What If Money Was No Object?

posted by on 11/10/2012

Incredible lecture from the late great British philosopher Alan Watts, y’all will have probably already seen this video as it has gone viral with over 365,000 views. The lecture is combined with some stunning imagery but for once, it’s not about the visuals, listen carefully to his words. He asks you a question, one that many people will have to dig deep to answer. What would do with your life if money was no object? Society has almost caged us into this natural belief that money is a necessity for happiness.  I guess I’d still be in the media industry in some shape or form, I’d still be using my God given talents – photography, design and my eye for all things visual more. I just want to create freely. What would you be doing if it didn’t exist? Watch on the reverse.

Meet Windows 8 | Official Commercial

posted by on 11/10/2012

On October 26th Windows will finally launch the long awaited Windows 8 operating system on PCs, laptops, tablets… the works! The new operating system boasts a much slicker interface than its predecessor putting windows in a better position when being compared to Apple’s iOS. News features include: new touch enabled features, live tiles (which lets you run two applications simultaneously) and Skydrive integration to name a few! After the break is the official promo for its release, a simple composition highlighting all of the systems USPs and new additions. It’s a nice video, does what it says on the tin and all the colours make for a fresh offering. However, I loved their ad for the Windows Phone 7 so much that I did expect something along those lines. Anyways… following the untimely passing of my Macbook at the hands of pineapple and coconut juice, I’ve been using a Dell XPS (which is pretty great) – I’ll surely be upgrading! Relentless Freeze Festival 2012

posted by on 11/10/2012

Later this month, Battersea Power Station will be transformed into a ski resort where you’ll find great live music, shops, alpine themed bars and the world’s best skiers and snowboarders competing in The LG Big Air World Cup; all for this year’s Relentless Freeze Festival. I’ve never been to this before, this year will be my first time- looking at the photos from previous years, it looks mental. The line-up this year looks great too with sets by the likes of Mark Ronson, Zane Lowe, Public Enemy, Shy FX and Ms. Dynamite. Tickets are still available (from £20), more info after the break including the full line-up.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 11/10/2012

This week’s throwback track is from 1996 by one of the top hip-hop groups of the 90′s, The Fugees. I struggled a to pick between ‘Killing Me Softly’ and ‘Ready or Not’ as they’re both brilliant songs- but I’ve gone with ‘Killing Me Softly‘ as it was the first CD I ever owned; wow times flies! I would say ‘let’s hope they get back together and make another record’… but boy, that’s not going to happen. Watch them after the break

Brand To Watch – One Diverse Fashion | ODF

posted by on 11/10/2012

While trends keep a brand up to date and new, it is timeless design that helps one to stick around. One Diverse Fashion explain that they “aim to merge contemporary fashion with the classic preppy look predominately from the 80′s” and through this they have managed to create a collection that is both fresh and prepared to stand the test of time. With that in mind, let us take a look at what they have on offer.

H&M 2012 Autumn/Winter Mens Collection

posted by on 10/10/2012

Has H&M ever looked so good? The wonders of good lighting, good setting and great photography can make or break the way collection is received in my opinion. Fortunately for H&M Joel Rohdin captured some great shots of their 2012 Autumn/Winter Mens Collection as seen in the following studio images. The short lookbook sees Sweedish model Gabriel Gronvik decked in some of the brands more sophisticated and refined pieces. The styling for the shot is exquist, showcasing textures and colours expertly. I have nothing but praise for this lookbook, I actually want every single piece especially the purple coat hanging off the shoulder of Gabriel and the to die for lookbook ending outfit. Peep a slice of what H&M have to offer after the cut.

Pendleton for Dr. Martens | Collaboration Collection

posted by on 10/10/2012

Drools. You can’t go wrong with the Pendleton‘s classic Navajo print, the American brand has been producing the native Indian print since the late 18th century when they started off producing blankets for Native Americans. They’ve teamed up one of the finest British brands, Dr. Martens to combine their quality and craftsmanship to create a vibrant collection. All the items definitely compliment both the brand’s aesthetic equally, a nice fusion of the pattern and Doc Martens classic sturdy shoe. A British institution meets an Oregon icon and this happens. Have a closer look on the flipside
