Nike x Undercover Gyakusou Autumn/Winter 2012
posted by Yin on 12/10/2012
From what I’ve heard the Nike Undercover and Gyakusou collection is something of a must-buy for runners. I recollect one of my runner friends referring to this collection as ‘running gear porn’. I can see why, in terms of training gear – everything is usually plain with a muted colour palette whereas the Japanese Gyakusou‘s latest collection features a subtle palette of rich purple, slate grey, saturated blue, deep red and black plus a pattern that represents the unique camouflage-like pattern of autumnal leaves. We were lucky to get our hands on a few pieces from the collection, have a gander at what we came up with after the cut.

Let’s just say I kinda forced Sami to model for me, seeing as he’s one of the runners on the team and I, err, don’t run. I takes photos. Put two and two together and you get a post like this. Back to the collection, Jun Takahashi‘s collection is highly technical with a lot of innovative and functional details fly way over my head, I suggest you head to the Nike Inc site and read more on that if you’re interested. This collection is all about the details.
The collection drops at 1948 tomorrow – 13th October. I’m pretty sure it’ll sell out quick so head down as soon as you can! Not too sure on the price range but if it’s anything like last year, it’ll be around the £150 – 300 range. Break the bank.

Sami’s wearing the lightweight jacket which focuses on materials, tailored silhouettes and a slightly bolder tone. He’s matched it up with the ultra-light patterned camo shorts, NSW sweatshirt and a pair of classic Cortezs.
Diggin’ it? Right, here’s the official lookbook for the Autumn/Winter collection. Shot somewhere beautiful in the mountains of Nagano, Japan, four Team Gira runners train near a shrine. How fitting. I do love the imagery, textures and direction throughout this lookbook, they’re almost like modern day running ninjas.
