Eastpak x Wood Wood – Desertion Backpack
posted by Yin on 16/10/2012
If I’m honest, I haven’t really cared for Wood Wood in the past – foolish I know. The Danish brand is renowned for their Scandinavian minimal design aesthetic have teamed up with Eastpak to create the ‘Desertion‘ collaboration. Inspired by the rugged beauty of the North American landscape, the whole collection is all about textures from a plethora of different materials including suede, leather and canvas. The good folks over at Eastpak sent us one of the backpacks from the collection to play with.

At first, I wasn’t too keen on the one adjustable shoulder strap. Mainly down to past experiences where I’ve had shoulder pains from balancing all the weight on one shoulder. However that wasn’t the case with this, I tested it out on Sunday with 4 mile walk en route to the nearest open tube station (TFL on weekends, sigh) and it was fine.
This pack is perfect for the gym and work, so those who carry a lot like me (camera, gym gear, Kindle and more) – this backpack is the one. I tend to switch bags every few days, as you know not all bags go with every outfit. Ahem.
Favourite part of the bag? The build and variety of natural materials and textures. WoodWood’s natural ‘desert’ tan hues work well and so does the rough/stony canvas texture. It plays off the brand’s S/S 2012 collection which was a celebration of the North American landscape.
The details include: top handle, roll top opening, embroidered brand logo on lower side, suede zipped bottom opening, large main compartment and an adjustable shoulder strap.
You can buy it on the Eastpak site for £174.
