While trends keep a brand up to date and new, it is timeless design that helps one to stick around. One Diverse Fashion explain that they “aim to merge contemporary fashion with the classic preppy look predominately from the 80′s” and through this they have managed to create a collection that is both fresh and prepared to stand the test of time. With that in mind, let us take a look at what they have on offer.
Looking at the above pictures, it is evident that ODF have stuck to their aim. Varsity jackets, polos, slim chinos and jeans, quilted jackets, bodywarmers, caps and classic knitwear, all standards in the preppy and heritage looks, while not quite taking on the full look of the prep. ODF grabs your attention with some stand out colours and patterning but simplicity is certainly at the heart of their design. Clean-cut shapes and fits giving a look of real quality, although sadly I didn’t get any hands on time with the clothing to really put this to the test.
Here ODF showcase there ability to put a really interesting and stand out look on display, preppy clothing designed here with colours and materials associated with heritage to create an intelligent smart casual look. ODF manages to avoid just becoming a typical casual wear brand with garments that can be dressed up and down to suit the occasion. The idea allows one to become the urban gentleman and I think more looks like this one will really push the brand.
The urban advertising campaign is honest to the brands roots and appealing, particularly in its choice of eye candy (ahem). You can check out the brands impressive advert that has clocked up over 5,000 views below.
It is clear ODF have been inspired by the likes of Ralph Lauren and Fred Perry but this is no criticism. To be compared to these classic brands is very much a compliment and rather than replicate they have, like I said, been inspired by. ODF are only five years old and have many years ahead of them to build a level of prestige to match that which Ralph Lauren and Fred Perry have earned. They have already managed to display ranges at London Fashion Week, but what are they going to do in order to really stand out from a constantly growing crowd?
