Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Progress – Virgin Active | #BeYourPersonalBest

posted by on 31/10/2012

It has been almost a month since my last #BeYourPersonalBest post, after failed attempts at Insanity, p90x and even running. I’ve found something that I enjoy, the gym. I never thought me and physical exercise would ever become friends again. What’s different this time you say? I guess it’s most likely because I have a gym buddy, Ricky of TechMog and the Virgin Active UK gym that we attend. It’s the creme del a creme of gyms. More on the reverse.

Glen Infante | The Donut Collection

posted by on 31/10/2012

Few outside of Cleveland have heard of Glen Infante, the talented designer turned entrepreneur who left his job to give birth to street wear brand ILTHY. But it’s his artwork rather than his business nous that caught my attention. Dubbed ‘The Donut Collection’, it features 80′s and 90′s icons from Bruce Lee, Marty McFly, Jean Claude Van Damme and Mr T to Notorious B.I.G, 2pac and the more recent Tyler the Creator. All the pieces where previously exhibited in ILTHY’s flagship store in Ifante’s home town and although non of us were lucky enough to see it in the flesh, you can still check it out by clicking below thanks to the invention of photography and the internet…and a few other things.

Good afternoon! Look out for National Gallery’s debut of ‘Seduced By Art’ this Wednesday, should be impressive! Also, on Friday, our mates over at We Are S.M.E are having a Halloween Hip-Hop party at their usual spot: East Village. Dress up as a ‘hip-hop zombie’ for half off your entry. This sunday at Hoxton Square, enjoy some live music and more as ‘Unplugged’ makes a return- sets by Shakka, Von Majik and others. More after the break

River Island – The Dark Side Collection

posted by on 29/10/2012

Going out looking like a child’s painting, in every colour of the rainbow or wearing one bright colour head-to-toe is very rarely a good look. Do not get me wrong, colour is great and should be utilised even during the autumn/winter season but you need pieces in there to mute those vivid colours and make them a little easier on the eye. This is where River Island comes in, so “Welcome to the dark side, where muted shades of white, grey and black form the colour palette of your chilling look.”

Eargasms

Man, we’ve been slacking on the Eargasms front. It’s been over 2 weeks since the last one, I blame myself for being away last weekend. Alas, we shall not dwell – hop on after the cut and click play.

#CrackTheCase | The Heineken Experience

posted by on 28/10/2012

Last week we were invited to take part in Heineken’s Crack the Case experience, as part of their huge campaign in support of the new 007 film Skyfall. The experience included 007-esque secret agent challenges, a bespoke suit fitting by Roberto Revilla, a helicopter ride (which was postponed) and of course a pre-screening of the film. Read about the experience along with visuals after the break. Just so you know, this one’s lengthy!

James Mylne – Biro Art

posted by on 27/10/2012

What happens when fashion meets biro? You get fashion at the tip of your fingers, literally. Meet James Mylne. Not only has he been creating artworks using ballpoint pens for fifteen years, his works also often take hundreds of hours to complete. Mylne specialises in the creation of photo-realistic and abstract art. He completed an MA from art college in 2006 and since then things have only gotten better for this talented artist. Using ballpoint is no mean feat, not only is it incredibly difficult to create anything other than a blurry mess (trust me I’ve tried), it is also a very unforgiving medium; mistakes mean starting from scratch, the biro gives no second chances. So why use the biro? ‘I use ballpoints, not only for the precision and distinct contrast its capable of, but as you cant make a mistake- it forces a certain focus of mind that feels a bit like meditation’. Mylnes’ work was showcased at the Rook and Raven Gallery for the ‘Vintage Vogue‘ exhibition which, ends on 30th October.

Cool Runnings | Amsterdamage

posted by on 26/10/2012

This weekend gone, international running crews Bridge Runners, Paris Running Club and London’s Run Dem Crew (rolling 120 members deep) arrived in Amsterdam for the marathon, and, more importantly, third instalment of the Bridge The Gap meet-up hosted this time by Patta’s Running Team. Yin&Yang presence was in full effect; not only was I there to take on the Dutch roads, Yin was also in Amsterdam for a related-but-not-related project. In my last Cool Runnings post I spoke about running confidence and remembering my greatness on the pavements. This weekend presented a whole different plane of reflection, extending much further beyond the steps I took in my trainers. Read on to find out what I learned and see some stunning race photography by Yin.

NFL Takeover At Nike Town London

posted by on 26/10/2012

Honestly, this year has been all about sports in London. England even. We’ve actually won a plethora of titles and not too mention hosting the BEST Olympics ever (might be a bit of bias in there). I’ve been proudly representing my future home nation with. their NBA jersey ever since, it’s been my lazy day look for the past few months since returning from the US. The west coast jock look has somehow made its way into my wardrobe, quite surprising ey? for someone who’s been an advocate of the ‘grown man’ etiquette look. I’ve always been fond of the Letterman jacket but never had thought I’d be wearing jerseys again any time soon. So the Americanisation of UK continues with NFL taking over London with this Sunday’s game at Wembley. More on the reverse.
