adidas Basketball | Derrick Rose – The Return

posted by on 08/09/2012

Tis’ probably a little random seeing something Basketball related on Y&Y. I can’t remember the last time I featured something NBA related, must have been something Kobe/LeBron related though. For those who keep up to tabs with NBA will have heard of Derrick Rose, Chicago Bulls point guard who has been out of action for a good part of 8 months now with an ACL injury. adidas Basketball has decided to document his journey back onto the court through his rehabilitation process. D Rose shares his personal thoughts on watching the play-offs as a spectator, training and more.

Nokia Unveils Lumia 920 and 820

posted by on 08/09/2012

With the iPhone monopolising the mobile phone market, Nokia are set to challenge them head on with the release of the Lumia 920 and 820, the latter being the lower end of the range. They already tried with the first set of Lumia’s but unfortunately didn’t get anywhere, looking at these specs however, I’m sure this time around will be a different story.

The East Ender Festival

posted by on 07/09/2012

Boom! a friend of mine is putting on a three day arts and music micro-festival celebrating East London’s artistic heart and soul later on this month. One last celebration before the summer’s out for good, the East Ender festival is a homecoming celebration for all the area’s arty farty residents after travelling around festivals and gigs across the country and abroad. The talent on show during the three day period is pretty impressive, includes some of UK’s most influential acts including MF Doom, Norman Jay, Blak Twang and more. The real Doom will actually be there, my friend can vouch for that so don’t worry about another Livin’ Proof repeat. More on the reverse.

Short Film | Three Gates – Cardy Films

posted by on 07/09/2012

Sheesh, it’s almost been a year since I first met with Olan for a coffee. Back then, he was just starting out with his 550d and now 11 months on, you know instantly what a Cardy Film looks like from the way it has been shot. This is by far my favourite short film from him and Ola Masha – everything just flows from styling, casting, score and Ola’s script. It left me wanting more and that’s how you know you’ve just watched a good piece of film. Hop on after the cut to watch Cardy Films’ latest masterpiece – Three Gates.

Farrell Autumn/Winter 2012 Lookbook

posted by on 06/09/2012

I introduced the brand last week with a recap of the Selfridges collection launch here. So not going to delve into the history with this post, so head over to that one if you wanted to find out more about the brand and Robbie Williams‘ inspiration for it. The collection is incredible strong, the refined silhouettes and utilitarian range of clothing is immaculate. I can definitely see the British aesthetic portrayed in this lookbook, it’s simplicity and use of the brick wall is what does it for me. The strong masculine shapes work well with the B&W and blue-y tone colours. Hop on after the cut.

Fabio D'Alitlia's Double Interpretation Illustrations

posted by on 05/09/2012

Absolutely genius. Italian artist and agency art director, Fabio D’Alitlia has created this fun set of illustrations that make you double-take each vector image as it plays with multistable perception which is a form of perceptual phenomena that consists unpredictable sequences of spontaneous subjective changes. So we have the tendency of switching between two or more interpretations of one image. The image above, what do you see? Woman’s boobs or face? haha. More on the flipside.

Coca-Cola | The World's Largest Vending Machine

posted by on 04/09/2012

East London‘s very own Brick Lane is now temporarily home to the biggest vending machine in the world, even if it’s not technically a real one. It’s all part of an advertising campaign that coincides with the Olympic and Paralympic games which has already brought us ‘Move to the Beat, which enlisted the talents of London natives Katy B and Mark Ronson to create a theme song for the games using the sounds of professional athletes. This new irresistibly uplifting commercial documents the process of turning an 100 foot wall into a massive vending machine and captures the magic that follows when free bottles of Coke plummet into the waiting hands of curious onlookers.
