Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Striver's Row – The Exchange | First UK Show

posted by on 19/09/2012

Click play. Remember that? We shot that all the way back in December 2011 with the help of Olan Collardy – it’s easily one of the best projects I’ve worked on, why? Joshua Bennett‘s wordplay is something else, spine-tinglingly articulate. Him and his WHOLE CLIQUE are coming down to England in December with their first ever international performance together. Boom, 2 performances in London and 1 in Manchester. Are you ready? Hop on after the cut to see WHY you shouldn’t miss out on this.

Flags + Typography + Stereotypes

posted by on 18/09/2012

Moscow-based graphic designer, Kirill Zaystev experiments with visual forms of national flags, taking the colours and combining them with typography and copy depicting the verbal stereotypes of each country. Some of them are hilarious and…um so true. It’s all nicely put together, the same font across each one – would have been even better if he switched it up with a font from each country to add some variety to the mix. Keep on reading after the jump and see if you can guess which images belong to which country.

DVF x Google Glass at NYFW

posted by on 18/09/2012

A tad late with this one but I thought I’d share anyway! Google give us a 2nd teaser of what it’s new baby can do by pushing it into the mainstream spotlight at Diane Von Furstenberg‘s Spring/Summer 2012 fashion week show in New York. When first reported last week, I wasn’t really sure what they were thinking as it just seemed like hi-tech accessory for the models, unsurprisingly half of them had no clue what it did. Though I know this Google displaying the versatility of it’s new gizmo, the quality of video is bit meh – you’d think something that will retail at around $1500 in this day and age would shoot in HD and photographs of Lumix quality. Saying all that, I do love what they’ve done here, offered a completely different perspective on a traditional catwalk show from beginning to end. Hope on after the cut to see it.

Lost Memories by Francois Ferracci

posted by on 18/09/2012

‘Lost Memories’ is a short film shot by Francois Ferracci a french art director. Quite simply, the film paints a picture of life in 2020 where we’re supposedly engulfed in a life of technology overload. ‘Lost Memories’ boasts icy colour grading, an emotive story and holograms in abundance- It’s great. I absolutely love the concept of this short film, it really grabs your attention and makes you think about how quick everything is evolving and how easily we move onto the next stage as far as technology is concerned. There’s a really powerful scene at 2:20 where the male character stoically sheds a tear as he stares at a Polaroid picture “a memory”. Watch ‘Lost Memories’ after the break

River Island – Life of Tailor Night

posted by on 17/09/2012

We gave you a preview of the collection earlier this week, prior to the launch event which took place on Tuesday. The good folks at River Island hit us up last week to come down and create some content with to celebrate the all new menswear range which like I said previously, embraces the design ethos of age-old Savile Row traditions and fusing it with more modern contemporary takes on sartorial classics. The event which took place at Hospital Club was a stylish affair with a several bloggers, press and style connoisseurs in attendance, including most of the male members of the Y&Y family. Hop on after the cut.

Evidence Of Things Unseen

posted by on 17/09/2012

FAITH. I have featured Salomon Ligthelm‘s work over and over again, why? because he’s just that good. If you follow him on Instagram, you’ll realise why he’s one of the best – most of his IG imagery are better than most people’s photographs on a SLR. His creative eye is something else and you’ll see why after the cut. It’s been a while since his last short and this narrated short based on a biblical scripture was certainly worth the wait. The combination of the voice over and the slow build up through out the piece visually and musically works wonders. I’m not sure what the track is, probably created it himself but it’s very reminiscent of Sigur Ros. Perfect music for the New Zealand mountain scenes, watch on the reverse folks.

Palladium Boots – Undercity: Las Vegas

posted by on 17/09/2012

After teaming up with Pharrell Williams to create a successful collaborative urban exploration film last year on post-Earthquake Japan, the heritage boot brand has teamed up with renowned exploration duo Undercity (Andrew Wonder and Steve Duncan) to document Las Vegas’ hidden tunnel system that resides beneath the Sin City’s chaos. Now this is fascinating, especially since the city itself left me unimpressed over the Summer. It’s just an adult playground, think Disneyland for the 18+ filled with sex, drugs and clubs. Head on over to my Yin’s Life post to read/see more from my trip there. Anyway, throughout the exploration, the pair put their Palladium boots to the test to navigate through the crazy tunnel system, rough terrain and abandoned buildings. There’s more to the city than meets the eye – watch after the cut.
