Samsung invited myself and 3 other diverse bloggers to experience London 2012 equipped with nothing but the new GALAXY Note to document our adventure. Over two days, we worked closely with a team of talented creatives, animators and illustrators to create some amazing animation & video content. Ever wondered what I would look like in Anime form…find out on the reverse.

Enroute to the the glorious Old Trafford stadium to witness the Quarter Finals between Japan & Egypt, each of the bloggers was paired with a creative partner to brainstorm and create a concept for an animated video. The aim was to essentially capture and illustrate our personal Olympic experience purely using the GALAXY Note… thats right all the initial designs, concepts, sketches, imagery and footage were all taken using the GALAXY Note and then later transformed into an animated clip by the incredibly talented folk at We Eat Cake.
In between watching live streams of the Olympic action, I had a chance to discuss with my assigned creative which aspects of my experience I wanted to illustrate, the style of animation and also the main ways I utilised the Galaxy Note over the last few days. The main discussion points are below:
-The S-Note application was heaven sent. My creative style is usually described as Ordo Ab Chao (Order out of Chaos), I scribble down lots of notes and ideas which are then refined at later point
- In the event that I wanted to communicate an idea to the team, I would usually be limited to text but with GALAXY Note I can easily send them my badly drawn doodles, handwritten notes and annotated images.
- The 8MP camera is pretty impressive. Being a photography junkie I find that the Note is perfect for capturing content for the site without having the hassle of draggins around my DSLR.
- As a self-confessed Otaku, I’m a big fan of Japanese culture, in particular the animation style used in ‘Anime’
- The animation should be emotive. The unity of the crowds, the anticipation and the celebration.
The team did an amazing job in conveying my vision and experience and its hard to believe this was achieved using only the Galaxy Note (The 5.1 inch screen and precision stylus being a major aid, no doubt). The animation illustrates my video diary of the train journey up to Manchester, sketching the flags using the S-Pen, capturing the patriotic flag bearing fans outside the stadiums, updating the team via phone call (Sometimes tweets are not enough), the stadium united in celebration and the jubilant face of the striker.
