Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 09/08/2012

A lot of people will agree that that R&B was at its best in the 90s and I am one of those people. A lot of the crap that’s considered R&B today doesn’t quite compare. Then again those who grow up on this genre in the 60s may say the same about the 90s! But anyways we bring you good R&B this week, suggested by DJB from his sick bed *attaches protective mask*; ‘Hey Mr DJ’ by ‘Zhane’ is one of those 90s classics that everyone knows and loves. The beat, harmonies, the obscene fashion in the video, not much to dislike to be fair! If it’s not ringing any bells, just listen and ye shall remember.

The Paparazzo Light | iPhone

posted by on 08/08/2012

Don’t you just hate the flash on your iPhone/any mobile phone? Mine sucks! Since we’re in collective agreement, you should check this out. The Paparazzo Light is quite the cool attachment for nightlife photography on the iPhone it seems! The device sits quite nicely on the side of the phone and attaches easily to mini tripods where necessary. The retro looking Paparazzo allows you to regulate the strength of the flash with ease; there are also 3 different settings: test, photo and video. If you’re wondering about it raping your phones battery life, the device is powered by CR123 batteries! Right so to get one of these, you’ll have to pledge $45 on Kickstarter and if the project goes ahead, you’ll be receiving one in the post!

Sigur Rós x Ryan McGinley – Mystery Film Experiment

posted by on 07/08/2012

Just beautiful, something so calm and peaceful about this experimental film collaboration between Icelandic group Sigur Rós and NYC-based photographer Ryan McGinley. It’s part of the Sigur Ros Mystery Film Experiment which consists of collaborative films for each of their tracks from the latest album. Doesn’t this video make you want to jump on a plane and hop around New York? All the clip features is a golden haired girl freely hopping through the City’s busy streets with nothing stopping here. The glorious golden hour shots are the one, simplicity works. Watch on the reverse.

Usain Bolt vs. 116 years of Olympic Sprinters

posted by on 07/08/2012

After watching the 100m sprint, I wondered if eventually an athlete would clear the 100m sprint in 7 seconds or even less. That’s a crazy thought and I’m sure once upon a time when just short of 11secs was the world record, they would have thought 9 seconds was crazy. Then I saw this video on the New York Times website, it was created by Kevin Quealy and Graham Roberts- they pit current champion Usain Bolt against the last 116 years of Olympic sprinters. The short video outlines how the record for this race has changed over time, it also shows you where each Olympic medallist would be in a race with Usain based on their average speeds. Watch after the break.

Green Card Hunt – Las Vegas

posted by on 06/08/2012

42 degree heat says it all. I’ve never experienced such intense heat, even Indian summers seemed alright in comparison. The location casino-filled utopia in the middle of a Nevada desert means there’s hardly any shade in the city. You’ve all seen The Hangover, right? That’s all there is to the city – getting drunk, fancy casinos, stolen architecture, escorts and sex. It definitely lives up to the sin city title. There’s also another audience the city caters to; the families – I guess the extravagance of the hotels is something that appeals to them. Not sure what kids would do there, it’s definitely more of an adult centered b. Key word -Adult. Click on the image to peep the Yin’s Life post.

Beats by Dre pop-up in Shoreditch

BeatsbyDre

As the Summer of Sport takes over the city, Beats by Dre have added a dope dash of ‘color’ to an exclusive spot in Shoreditch. I popped in to see the new, limited edition Colors collection, and ended up hanging out with some Olympians, tasting odd cocktails and of course, listening to music the way the artist intended on Beats technology.

Camden Beach @ Roundhouse

posted by on 06/08/2012

British weather, one minute it’s cold, then hot, then it’s raining and then we’ll get some sun- it’s a tad depressing having to come back here after a holiday in a hot country! For those that haven’t had to chance to escape the city for a quick break, you can of course experience the equivalence at the Roundhouse this summer. Did you know Roundhouse has been looking like a beach for the past week or so? I certainly did not; it looks like good fun though… when the weather picks up!

Levi's Go Forth 2012 – Campaign

posted by on 05/08/2012

Aloha from sunny Oahu, just came across this video clip for Levi’s Go Forth 2012 global campaign and had to share. It’s beautifully shot, featuring  several individuals from diverse walks of life putting on their Levi’s in the morning and preppin’ to face the day. The clip portrays them putting on their jeans, tucking in their shirts, heading out the door and cycling/using transport to get to work – all while repeating the Levi’s mantra of you’re gonna be great, you’re gonna be great, you’re gonna be great.” You can definitely see that, quite aspirational in a way that it makes me want to get back into the swing of things in London! Immaculate styling and extremely attractive set of models don’t go a miss either. From the looks of things, the brand have gone for a more refined and tailored look with their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.
