Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Puma Yard | Event Review

posted by on 13/08/2012

While we collectively seek empathy for the POD (post-Olympic-distress) hitting us all today, I’m taking a moment to give a nod to one of the coolest spaces to watch and celebrate the games while they were on. Running from Friday 27th July to Sunday 12th August, Puma converted Brick Lane’s Old Truman Brewery into a Jamaican ‘yard’, screening the Games and hosting late-night events which garnered the attention of the city’s influencers, saw dope performances from the likes of RoxXxan, Gyptian, Clement Marfo & The Frontline and Professor Green, and even had superstar Olympian Usain Bolt take to the DJ decks. Check out some flicks from the nights below.

London 2012 Olympic Games – The Highlight

posted by on 12/08/2012

The London 2012 Olympic Games have definitely not disappointed. Full of emotion, tears, delight, inspiration and truly amazing performances it’s been great watching it all. I think this is one of the few things that can genuinely bring together people from all over the world to celebrate and enjoy the same thing. The games give a sense of unity that is so global, you can’t escape it and, indeed, Nelson Mandela wasn’t kidding when he said that ‘sport has the power to change the world.’ This time last year London was in the headlines for rioting and looting – all the wrong reasons, but now, for the past two weeks, the world has looked to London as a place of celebration, hope and truly great sporting moments.

Heart For The House 2012 – Day/Night

posted by on 12/08/2012

Where else would you get arty farty inspiration, eclectic music and promotional church testimony films hah. That’s right. My church‘s creative team have produced this incredible short film looking at the lives of 3 different individuals and how they came to get over certain situations in their life – such as losing a child, having no mother and father, living in poverty and feeling lost. The most touching has to be the story of the child living in the poor part of Mumbai and how Vision Rescue have transformed his life. Despite the season of struggles and tests, his emergence from the dark with such a positive outlook on life and all the hope in the world will bring a smile/tears to your face. The film takes you on a journey through the sunset of life into the night season of tragedy and circumstance and then into the light where dawn breaks and with it the promise of renewal, more chances and opportunity despite our yesterdays. A gift, a new day – what will we make of it? Watch after the cut.

Adidas Originals 2013 Spring/Summer Collection

posted by on 12/08/2012

I hop out my bed and jump in the shower to wash the necessaries and then return to my room. What do I think to do before drying myself? I think it’s a pretty good time to start writing this for y’all. So as water drips from my finger tips on to my keyboard please realise i’m risking serious emotional heartache should the water break my mac some how lol. Anywho y’all know I love me some Adidas however in recent seasons I have become less enamoured by them and what they have to offer. Maybe it’s me growing up or maybe it’s because what they are offering just isn’t that great. Peep their Originals 2013 Spring/Summer Collection. I know Jeremy Scott has something to do with it because some of the pieces just scream Jeremy Scott. The collection is adequate I guess, there are some pieces i really like and some i don’t. Have look and let us know what you think :)

Legends Run Forever

500 runners joined marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe at the Nike+ FuelStation at Clapham Common – a digitally enabled sporting clubhouse designed to inspire London’s athlete community. Join it here. With the Olympics soon coming to a close, we at Y&Y feel it’s only right that we stay locked to what’s going on in the streets. When Paula Radcliffe had to pull out of the marathon due to a potentially career ending foot injury, the ever innovative Nike didn’t quiver under the turn of events but like everything they touch, turned it into marketing gold.
