Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Travis Coburn – Velocity Art

posted by on 24/08/2012

One of the best books I read this year has to be ‘Velocity‘ by the founder of AKQA, Ajaz Ahmed and Nike‘s director of Digital Sport, Stefan Olander. If you haven’t read it, please pick it up some point – it’ll challenge you to better your game. I spotted this set of new promotional posters for the book, taking a very different direction with an illustration led piece rather than minimalist typography. Designer and illustrator Tavis Coburn‘s unique style is refreshing, reminiscent of 1940-50′s comic book art and the Russian avant-garde propaganda movement. His work + the excellent quotables from Velocity make for some pretty epic imagery, really hope he releases these designs as prints in his web store. More on the reverse yo.

Style Inspiration: Joseph Gordon-Levitt in GQ

posted by on 24/08/2012

Who else misses the cold weather? I miss layering my clothes. Layering in this weather is a myth, I’ve seen some folks walk around in blazers and leather jackets – how?! I’d be drowning in my own sweat if I chose to wear one; rush hour on the Central Line would finish me. If I had my way, I’d be wearing a tank tops and shorts to work but you’ve got to keep some level of professionalism (yes, even in the media industry) in the office. Dark Knight Rises actor Joseph Gordon-Lewitt is always dapper and this GQ feature is no exception. They’ve tried to channel the English gentlemen in the A/W season, apparently this is what a ‘True Brit’ dresses like. What can you say, no one can touch our tailored looks. More on the flipside.

Jessie Ware – Devotion Billboard

posted by on 23/08/2012

You may be thinking why the heck is he posting about a billboard, trust me – it’s not any ordinary b billboard. It’s one that Redbull Music Studios and Studio Moross has co-created with members of the public. They’ve produced an interactive billboard design for Jessie’s debut album Devotion, which was completed with the help of the public. The poster consisted of empty dots which needed to be coloured in to reveal the album artwork. A brilliant concept, in a day and age where it seems all things are digital – this is an excellent way to stand out by moving things away from digital and actually engaging first-hand with the fans. I wonder if Jessie made it down, more imagery on the flip reverse.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 23/08/2012

This weeks Throwback track comes courtesy of Mr Trey Songz. I thought it would be nice to ring in his first ever UK top 10 hit with a classic track of his. Simply Amazing was a surprise hit on the Official Chart this past week however I am almost certain that most who purchased the song don’t know for his older material. If you are one of those who have just clocked onto Trey then this is for you, if not and you’ve known about him for time then this lil throwback is for you also. If you are one of those who know about him but don’t like him then is clearly is not for you and you probably shouldn’t read on LOL. Anywho I Can’t Help But Wait (pun intended) for the weekend, imma get stupid drunk :)

London's Dark Underworld by William Eckersley

posted by on 23/08/2012

Bet you’ve never seen London like this before. William Eckersley has spent the last four years travelling around the city at night and capturing incredible still and shadowy shots of a rather unpopulated looking London. Have any of you tried photographing at night? It’s definitely a challenge, long-exposures, high ISOs and a steady hand are usually required for shots like this. He’s pulled it off, each of these photographs have something eerie about them, might be the unsettling emptiness of the city at night. It’s almost like a Zombie apocalypse takes place, I’d have been scared to snap these photographs on my solo dolo. Then again YOLO! Hop on after the cut to see more from the series.

We’re at it again. Seems like the Nike British 10K wasn’t enough for us; Candice, Derek and I are taking on more than double the distance with Nike’s Run To The Beat music half-marathon on October 28th. With Candice running a full marathon just a week before in Amsterdam, and me doing the Amsterdam half-marathon at the same time, and Derek running his first ever half-mara, it will be a massive challenge for us all.

Big Little World by Paul Wex

posted by on 22/08/2012

Big Little World is a short film shot by Paul Wex when he visited Seychelles… google it! The Republic of Seychelles is an island located north of Africa, close to Madagascar and according to this clip, it’s a beautiful place. The film kicks off with scenes from the plane seemingly as they’re about to reach the destination, then it progresses into scenes of the locals, food, wildlife etc… The real action for me begins once they take it under water; there are some incredible shots of life on the sea bed. In general, the video is shot so well, so many amazing shots of literally everything from sea shells to child birth! I also appreciate that Paul created the accompanying music too; the build-up and key changes work very well with the film. Watch Big Little World after the break.

Supreme 2012 Fall/Winter Lookbook

posted by on 21/08/2012

The English countryside gentleman, East London hipster, American College boy and 90′s kid-with-attitude cross paths in the Supreme 2012 Fall/Winter Lookbook, images for which hit the Internet today! A modern take on camouflage prints, old school varsities and bomber-style inspired jackets, tweed coats and printed shirts make up the Autumn edition of super brand, Supreme’s lookbook featuring photographer and skateboarder, Jason Dill. Coats and jackets are the main items on offer however t-shirts and trousers, as well as collabs with Schott(?) and Champion also made the cut. Many of my favourite pieces from the lookbook are reminiscent of the late 90′s Hip Hop era taking inspiration from brands Tommy Hilfiger, Ecko Unlimited, Mecca, Rocawear, Timberland, Enyce, Phat Farm and South Pole…Supreme are going old school! Hit the jump to see pictures from the collection which is due to hit shops in early September!
