FLYING LOTUS x ERYKAH BADU

‘See Thru To U‘

Flying Lotus is back with a new album this October and if this first offering from it is anything to go by, it’s going to be worth more than a few listens. With the help of Erykah Badu‘s echoing vocal this jazz-inflected treat with skittering hi-hats, groovy bassline and afrobeat inspired percussion failed to escape my attention.

FUNKINEVEN x FATIMA

‘Phone Line‘

Tripped out R&B meets House on this flipped-up, jittery beat from Funkineven with sensual vocals from Fatima adding a little bit of soulful solidarity to the track. Taken from Funkineven & Fatima’s collaborative EP of the same name, ‘Phone Line’ was released on Alexander Nut‘s EGLO Records, out now. British producers are killing it at the moment, and Funkineven proves this further with this track which hits the bullseye of this eclectic, futuristic, throw-back, 90′s, avant-garde, house meets R&B, sexed-up, wavey, synth thang that music is going through right now. CASSIE x YOUNG JEEZY

‘Balcony‘

Say what you will about Cassie and her vocal abilities but there’s no denying that she makes good songs. Me & U, Miss Your Touch, Kiss Me & King Of Hearts were all great pop songs. A few months back this song hit the net with ridiculous tags shouting all over the track but now we have a tag free version. The Rico Love produced & written song which features Young Jeezy is taken from her upcoming Rock-A-Bye Baby mixtape.

Kendrick can do no wrong, I swear. All his song leaks and features post Section:80 have just been getting better and better. Canei Finch‘s production sets it up nicely for dope verses from K.Dot and Jeezy.

SIGUR ROS

‘Dantalogn’

Oh man, what an album – if you haven’t listened to Sigur Ros‘ latest effort – Valtari then what are you waiting for? I can’t talk, only downloaded it last week, months after the release. This track in particular stood out for me as it has this ethereal vibe to it, quite reminiscent of Hans Zimmer‘s Gladiator soundtrack. Otherwordly goodness, click play.
