A Conversation With Folaju

We sat down for a coffee with the London-based photographer. There’s even a 2 Chainz reference.

Beats by Dre pop-up in Shoreditch

As the Summer of Sport takes over the city, Beats by Dre have added a dope dash of ‘color’ to an exclusive spot in Shoreditch. I popped in to see the new, limited edition Colors collection, and ended up hanging out with some Olympians, tasting odd cocktails and of course, listening to music the way the artist intended on Beats technology.

After testing out the new Beats, we were invited to create our own photos in line with the Color campaign. Imploring us to match our headphones to our personality, the ads show people (including celebrities like Lil Wayne) showing their colour and a phrase or word that characterises their personality. Apparently, I constantly look joyful (and I was grinning like a cheshire cat in all of my snaps) so we decided my word had to be HAPPY. Look below as I try – and fail – to hold a vex-face while posing with my shot.

As the evening descended, the pop-up became a bit of a party and Olympians from the Jamaican, USA and Australian team passed through to get specially designed team Beats (an action that almost brought Beats by Dre under fire for unofficial Olympic sponsorship – however, it was confirmed that the organisation did not breech guidelines).

Look out for the Beats by Dre Colors in shops soon. Follow Beats by Dre on twitter or follow the hashtag #BeatsArmy.
