We sat down for a coffee with the London-based photographer. There’s even a 2 Chainz reference.

VERSUS – Candice Gets Ready For British 10K

posted by on 06/07/2012

Since my epic journey at this year’s London Marathon, I admit that my training has solely consisted of lifting chocolate cake to my mouth and the only PBs I’ve been registering have correlated with my typing speed. Excuses, excuses, I know. But what better way to get back to clocking those miles than with the Nike British 10k? Exactly.

With my entire RDC family getting ready for it, it’s been hard to sack off training. Reducing my runs from five, to three days a week, it would be fair to say that having completed a marathon, 6 miles and change (NEVER underestimate the .02!) is child’s play right?!

WRONG!

The first mile is still a struggle. My shins still complain, my ass still wobbles. More often than not, I want to quit and deliver myself to God in dri fit’s and Nike Frees. But for some reason, I keep on going.

What’s funny is that although most of my training runs (jogs) have been solo dolo, I feel like I have a little personal trainer because of Nike+. Being able to set targets, reminders and challenges, I find I’m being reminded to head put for a 5k that will put me ahead of Emily in Australia. And while myself and Em (cause we fam now!) have never met, Nike+ is a genius way of brining us street athletes together. Even if we literally are worlds apart.

If my stats are anything to go by, I should be on track for my dream PB that is a 10k in under 60minutes. My current is 1hr 2mins. While I cant admit to training my ass off (no really, its still there!) I can say that the road always has a few surprises, so as long as I get a medal, I’m HASHTAG WINNING!
