Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Style Inspiration | GQ – Aaron Paul x Top Gear

posted by on 13/07/2012

I have no idea who the actor is but it’s GQ – they can make any man look good. Even Drake. For their August editorial, they’ve featured Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad (Never watched the show!). The styling and whole gritty/dirt bike theme of the shoot is what set’s it apart; the styling isn’t the usual smart & proper you’d expect from the magazine. They’ve taken a much more ‘dirty’ and laid back direction with it to compliment the location. I adore how they’ve mixed smart casual with racing jackets and a necktie. Bold move and it still works. Hop on after the cut.

Bench 'Self Made' Launch | Manchester

posted by on 13/07/2012

On Tuesday evening I made the long-overdue pilgrimage to the city of my favourite football club (United not City) but I was in town for a completely different agenda…The Bench AW12 collection launch party. Clothes, Cocktails and Foosball after the cut.

Wrangler 'Keep True' A/W12 Film

posted by on 13/07/2012

In a bid to push their 2012 Autumn/Winter collection, Wrangler decided to put out a new short film. Themed ‘Keep True’, this collection has been credited for incorporating Wrangler’s rich history of iconic designs and quality with modern innovation. The cut reconnects the brand with its roots out in the wild as Thomas Keith who was once a Salam County D.A, takes us to where it originates in North Carolina. As expected the film is well shot and the narrative is a nice touch as it gives the film a bit of background that will interest die hard fans. Saying that, it’s also a bit different to the Wrangler I’m used to… this seems rather subdued. Watch after the break

At Nike’s British 10K, amongst 25,000 other runners, our Versus challenge came to a great finale this Sunday as Cool Runnings (Derek, Candice and I) represented for Y&Y against the Control The Riot crew for the title of ‘Coolest Bloggers Who Can Sort-of Run Too’. The winning team, Control The Riot, summed up their race experience in a brilliant post here. However, we all felt like winners for reasons more than running. Read on to find out why.

Life in a Handstand: Mind The Gap!

posted by on 12/07/2012

Imagine. Just imagine, you’re heading off home from work, tired as hell and you suddenly see some dude handstand-ing all the way from the entrance of the station onto the train. I can’t even handstand two inches, let alone all the way down escalators and into a train. The upper-body strength required is ridiculous, this new series from Tim Shieff and and Visive Productions will focus on crazy as handstand stories like this. Hop on after the cut.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 12/07/2012

I photographed my very first wedding on Saturday, what a joyous but long experience. Definitely lots of lessons learnt and areas where I need to improve on pinpointed. One of the songs played at the post-wedding reception disco was an 80′s classic that I haven’t heard since my childhood. It’s full of cheese and from an old school film featuring a young Kim Cattrall. You guess it yet? Hop on after the cut.

Benjamin Wachenje's Illustrations

posted by on 11/07/2012

These are absolutely incredible. Remember the cover for Jagged Edge‘s self-titled 2003 album? Their last semi-decent album as a group, what grabbed my attention on whatever download site that I downloaded off was the cover art. I think I must have spent a few days trying to replicate it using an image of myself – such a simple yet detailed illustrative style. The other day I stumbled across the Facebook profile of the artist who created it, guess what? He’s a Londoner, Benjamin Wachenje has been in the game for a long time. You’ll recognise many of his works – may even a recognise a certain Run Dem Crew founder in one of the pieces after the cut. Hop on after the cut.

Team GB Football | LDN 2012 Olympic Diary

posted by on 11/07/2012

We all know that it is a big deal when global sporting events such as the Olympics come around every 4 years. I’ll be honest and say that in the past, like many football fans, I have not always got into the Olympic spirit and only watched the odd exciting 100m athletics dash when Usain Bolt is running! However, I now have the privilege and the honour of being selected to represent Great Britain women’s football team at this year’s London Olympics. Now I totally understand what all the fuss is about. The event is just huge and all inspiring. We were briefed yesterday on the DO’s and DONT’s of athletes uses of social media (there are a lot of rules) during the games. Thankfully we are allowed to blog! So I feel blessed to be able to share my experience with Y&Y readers through a series of personal LDN 2012 Olympics posts over the next, hopefully, 5 weeks! See pictures of my first 2 days at Team GB after the jump.

Superdry x Joseph Cheaney & Sons Shoe Range

posted by on 11/07/2012

Superdry have completely changed their style this season, from clean cut blazers to shirts and now brogues? Sure I like the styling and their products are good quality but it’s also a little bit boring- every brand is producing the same look now. Brogues… check, blazer… check, cravat… check- I don’t have a problem with it as I like the look… it’s merely an observation. Anyways, Superdry have teamed up with Joseph Cheaney & Sons to produce this slick line of footwear. Consisting of the traditional standard shoe with the brogue pattern; the Avon shoe, the Brogue and the Tamar boot come in Superdry’s signature orange. Retailing from a steep £250, it might be worth the purchase… if you’re that keen on shoes. Personally they’re nice shoes but price point is a turn off. Photos after the break.
