FRANK OCEAN
Let’s talk about the music, ignore the sexuality talk. The latter is his business so why should I judge him? His songwriting skills are second to none and this Pharrell Williams collaboration is splendid. After the epic 9 minute single, ‘Pyramids’, he slows it down with a bluesy jam narrative. Click play, the album will be all kinds of epic..

KELLY ROWLAND X LIL WAYNE
Miss Kelly is back and back sooner than most expected but back at just the right time in my opinion. Ready to capitalise on renewed interest in her and her solo projects she has released to the world her latest single featuring Lil Wayne. Some are calling their latest collaboration Motivation 2.0 which I can understand as the song heads down a similar route to ‘Motivation’. However although I do like the song I don’t think it is as strong as Motivation was.

NAS X AMY WINEHOUSE
I think now that Amy has gone I’ll cling to any new material featuring her! ‘Cherry Wine’ Is a perfect mix of rap on Nas‘ part and soulful vocals from Amy. There’s not much else to say really, it’s a great song worthy of your itunes.

JEREMIH X R KELLY
If I were The Dream I think I’d be a lil hacked off with this song. Everything about this song just screams The Dream, the simple production, the melody and layered vocals are all reminiscent of songs that feature on all his albums. I wouldn’t be surprised if later I found out that this a Dream cast off. The song itself is pretty mediocre to be honest. R Kelly can do so much better and I expected him to bring Jeremih up to his level rather than drop down to his.

KANYE WEST X PUSHA T
Kanye‘s GOOD Music album definitely takes a different direction to his previous work, think it’s more in the vein of ‘N***s in Paris’, that kind of ignant braggadocio talk. After initially listening to ‘Mercy’, I thought I’d hate it but I was won over after hearing the beat live at a gig. Actually ended up buying it on iTunes as I wanted to listen to the song on the way to work! This song is no different, full of that talk featuring a sampled Ghostface Killah verse from Mighty Healthy. Both of them kill it, Ye’s verse makes me want to stomp around.
