I was raised in a relatively small village in north-east Japan and apart from London…I am what you would refer to as a unseasoned traveler. Stepping off the ‘not so express’ bus from JFK airport to Grand Central station was overwhelming. Skyscrapers, Yellow Taxis, Hot Dog Stands. Welcome To America. Check out my images from the Big Apple after the cut.

Last week my passport was forced out of an early retirement (my japan trip in January set me back) when I was asked and eagerly accepted the opportunity to fly out and support the lovely folk at our New York City office for the launch of the new application our team has been developing. I am still pinching myself as I write.
The trip has been a real eye-opener so far and despite the late nights, it has been more than simply trading offices for two weeks. I have been blessed with visiting the fashion capitals of the world this year…London, Tokyo, New York (& Paris in two weeks), each city has added an element to my ever evolving work ethos. New York has taught me about the HUSTLE…despite the cliche; the city actually doesn’t sleep and I need to up my game.
Disclaimer: The images in the photo story will not feature any amazing skyline shots or beautiful wide angle photography. In my excited state during my packing process, I left my faithful 18-55m lens and was stuck with my 50mm.
This was a blessing in disguise as I was forced to experiment with my new Lomography film camera – Diana F+ [Analogue Rules]
Mean streets of Manhattan
Its the Roc’kefeller
Enroute to Central Park I was approached by the director of the new Ben Stiller movie “The secret life of Walter Mitty and asked if I was interested in playing the lead character. I turned it down and opted for a more humble role as an extra lol
New York is a hub of creativity and the fashion scene is no different. Despite juggling full time work and being a tourist, I had to grab a Street Style shot of NY native/fashion enthusiast Dvohn. I am determined to do a full blown Street Style shoot upon my return to the Big Apple.
Juxtaposition. The tranquillity of Central Park in the concrete jungle of Manhattan

Conjuring up my ninja abilities to get to the front of the crowd only to be disappointed…it was only Ricky Martin :[
All hail Andy Warhol
The president is in town. Obama attended a fundraiser across the street at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Surprisingly my name was not on the guest-list and despite the modest $2,500 tickets I decided a casual jog would be more entertaining [Minus the paranoia from the rooftop snipers].
Spot the sniper. I was informed that the armoured trucks were for a precaution for explosives. That really put me at ease
