Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Street Feast – The Friday Night Market

posted by on 14/05/2012

Last Friday, a few of us from the Y&Y family headed down to Brick Lane for Street Feast. Located just off the lane on Sclater street, Street Feast is a new open air night food market that launched a week ago. It plays host to a few of London’s leading street food traders including Big Apple Hot Dogs, Homeslice, Bhangra Burgers, Kimchi Cult and co. Trust me, the range of food on offer will make you drool – everything from spicy Indian burgers to hardcore prawns to hotribs – you name it, they’ve got it. I definitely recommend checking it out on a warm summer’s evening otherwise you’ll end up shivering as you try destroy a burrito. More on the reverse.

StreetFest 2012 Recap

posted by on 13/05/2012

Having heard dope reviews about last years Adidas sponsored event, I put my loyalty to Swoosh to one side and headed down to Shoreditch to take in the atmosphere of StreetFest. You could hear the music before you saw the venue. Making use of what resembled a disused warehouse come car park, the ‘fest was in full swing by the time I’d made it past the burly (but easily charmed!) security guards.

Not long a ago I introduced to you CJG (see here) the new shoe line to be sold at Topshop designed by Chloe Green. Thursday 17th May 2012 sees the launch of Chloe’s debut collection of shoes and the launch of her fashion brand CJG. May 17th is only round the corner so I thought it would be a good idea to showcase what it is you’ll be shopping for. Take a peek of her shoe collection after the cut. Girls let me know what you think. Will you be buying?

Images That Can’t Be Unseen

posted by on 12/05/2012

Imagine my shock when I was sent the image you see above… *spits out drink* it’s not ‘Omlette Du Fromage’!? Funny story actually, I discovered that attempting to retell this episode of Dexter’s Laboratory to anyone who hasn’t seen it, makes you look/sound retarded. Anywho, one of the writers of ‘Pleated-Jeans’ blog put together a compilation of images designed to spark that very reaction (of drink spitting). Some are quite funny, others are a bit dead, but a little bit of trivia never hurt anyone… aside from the ‘omlette du fromage’ fiasco… that hurt a little. There are also references to other childhood shows like The Chipmunks, The Lion king and Arthur.  There are more after the break, check them out!

Lookbook | H&M 2012 Autumn/Winter Menswear

posted by on 12/05/2012

So I think it’s safe to say that I will be rummaging through the shelves of H&M this coming season. There are quite a few pieces in this lookbook that have got the stylist in me gagging. Fresh from being inspired by one of the freshest cats around @mrflyycampbell this lookbook comes at a time where my eye for fashion and putting looks together is at its most absorbing. By this I mean i’m learning and getting inspired by those around me which in turn is making me that more interested and excited by style/fashion. Suit jackets, turtleneck sweaters, chinos, tailored pants, and mid-thigh coats all make an appearance in this lookbook, with the Suit and the various ways it can be worn being very much a focus this  upcoming season. “The suit is the most important garment for men at H&M this fall, and it’s amazing to see how it can be worn in so many modern ways. Traditions mix with new ideas to build a new wardrobe that’s all about personal style.” words from head menswear designer at H&M.

King Lear @ The Space Theatre

posted by on 11/05/2012

King Lear is the most powerful individual in the Kingdom looking to retire from his royal duties. In order for his Kingdom to thrive long after his reign, he takes it upon himself to determine who will gain the majority of his Estate. However, in order for King Lear to do so, he must see which of his three ‘devoted’ daughters is the most deserving. They must all pit against each other to declare which of the three loves him the most. Enraged by Cordelia, his most favoured daughter’s straightforward, non poetic response, he rewards both Regan and Goneril his Kingdom, but is this for the best?

Oprah's Masterclass Season 2 Episode 2 – Goldie Hawn

posted by on 10/05/2012

I’m back again with another episode of Oprah’s Masterclass series for y’all. I’ve got all of Season 2 on my hard drive, just need to watch and take notes now. Giving myself a few days in between episodes so I can fully digest each person’s story. Her story is beautiful, she already knew her life’s intention at the age of 11 – most of us still don’t know our goals in life! her goal was to simply be happy in life. She grew up in area of Maryland where it was more than important to be perfect but she wanted none of that; a simple life was her dream – get married, raise kids and run a dance school. Her life obviously didn’t go down that route; she looks back at her life and shares much of her wisdom she has learnt from her years in the entertainment industry as well as family life. Hop on after the cut.
