Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Samsung Galaxy Note: David Beckham Commercial

posted by on 25/05/2012

In a world dominated by consumers who exclusively use either a Blackberry or an iPhone, it is perhaps fair to say that other phone brands have got their work cut out in trying to establish their share of the global market. Phone brands have got to catch our attention through advertising, brand development and of course developing cutting edge technology for the use of the phone. Samsung have certainly caught my attention after I just watched the David Beckham commercial endorsing the new Samsung Galaxy Note. Of course, anything that Becks endorses will sell but the phone also looks very impressive. Ironically, since I am pathetically loyal to Blackberry, I just upgraded my phone to the new Blackberry bold 9900 yesterday. However I am now thinking that I should definitely have considered the Galaxy note. Check the commercial and more details out after the jump.

Throwback Thursday

posted by on 24/05/2012

Well, well, well….You’ll see why I’ve picked this very song in a few days time. Stefan Olander of Nike mentioned this was the most common Nike+ power song choice since the application’s launch. Are you surprised? It brings back memories of my childhood, joyous times where I’d watch action hero films back to back. Terminator 2: Judgement Day was my favourite film at the age of TWO – the uncut version as well. My grandma hadn’t a clue that it was too violent for my eyes to see. My other favourite childhood series was Rocky – you know where this is going, hop on after the cut.

ΔGHORI By Shueti

posted by on 24/05/2012

This short clip is directed by Shueti , discovered  his work through Channel 4’s Random Acts website. On what one can only describe as a mind blowing visual, Shueti films a dancer in his element. Capturing a whole leap of raw movement, some parts look very tribal and other parts seem coordinated. It’s a very weird concept, one that I don’t really understand but the visuals are very impressive. From the cryptic/post-apocalyptic background effect to the clannish attire to the cutaways and even the music; these are components that present a really strong cinematic visual. Pharrell Launches i am OTHER

posted by on 24/05/2012

i am OTHER logo

After releasing an enigmatic video teaser into his new project last week, superstar producer and entrepreneur Pharrell Williams unveiled i am OTHER this week. As the name suggests, i am OTHER is attempting to create  a social movement showcasing the creative spirits who don’t conform to what’s ‘normal’ – “if there was ever gonna be a box that you ever fit in, in your life, it’s the ‘OTHER’ box!” Pharrell says. Led by it’s youtube channel, it’s a creative centre point for the icon’s latest music proteges and projects, video content and a bunch of other bespoke projects. The main feature of the i am OTHER movement is collaboration, with the team releasing news that both the second season of the hugely popular (and one of my favourite) web-series The Mis-Adventures of The Awkward Black Girl will air on the i am OTHER channel, and hilarious interviewer Nardwuar The Human Serviette will be a main contributor.

French Connection Sample Sale

posted by on 23/05/2012

As much as I like French Connection and the fact that their collection this season has been better than ever, we’ll collectively agree that they are way too overpriced for what they’re offering (especially quality wise). This is why I am informing you of their up coming sample sale which is being held at their head office in Camden. Here you’ll find clothing from last year’s cycle at the price they should have retailed for, it’s great. With Knitwear and dresses going for as little as £30, trousers and shorts from £20, shirts and blouses from £20, kidswear from £10 and accessories & swimwear from £5… this is one bloodbath not to be missed. Pretty Green 2012 Eyewear Collection

posted by on 23/05/2012

I came across this collection last week but because I was in France, on holiday, I didn’t feel the urgent need to blog however today the sun came out to play in London town making it the right time to showcase this collection. Peep the new Pretty Green Eyewear collection. For those that are unaware Pretty Green is the clothing line brought to the world by former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher. Personally I can’t see myself wearing these sun protectors but that being said shades are hard to buy so trying different styles is essential before purchasing. You can grab a pair of Pretty Green shades here.

Pentagram's The Forty Story

posted by on 23/05/2012

How can a video blow me away like this? The attention to detail is immaculate, from the script to the transitions between slides and logotypes. The video is a celebration of renowned design consultancy Pentagram‘s 40th birthday. I ended up pausing it every 4-5 seconds the first time to take in all the different typographic combinations and sleek layouts, it’s flawless. I think I want to work in branding and design at some point in my career – there minimalist aesthetic is similar to my own! I digressed, the video is all about a boy born on the day Pentagram opened and how his life has been tracked (and kerned) by forty years of Pentagram design. What a brilliant way of showcasing 40 years worth of work, I’m in awe. Hop on after the cut to watch.

Marks & Spencer – SHWOP LAB

posted by on 22/05/2012

Last week we were invited to the ‘Shwop Lab’ in collaboration with Marks & Spencers and London College of Fashion’s Centre For Sustainable Fashion. The purpose of the pop-up space at the Old Truman Brewery was to explore the future of fashion through a series of collaborations with the UK’s leading lights in sustainable fashion and design. The results…a collection of outfits made entirely from donated clothes and more importantly the ushering of a possible revolution in the fashion industry.

Eastpak – When Was The Last Time You Did Something For The First Time?

posted by on 22/05/2012

What a question, makes you wonder ey? We live in such a fast paced lifestyle in London, well I do anyway. In this age of connectedness, it’s so easy into fall into the comfortable booby trap with your day job and other projects. Once you fall into that trap, you probably won’t realise your in that situation for a whole minute. Luckily for me, I have a whole bunch of personal projects outside of work to drown myself in – photography, Y&Y, a documentary amongst other things. Even then, I still feel like I’m always working and doing the same but different things all the time!? So when was the last time I tried something new. You’ll have to hop on after the cut to find out.
