Caribbean Cruising – Haiti & Jamaica | Royal Caribbean

It’s not often that you can claim to have woken up in a different country four days in a row but that’s exactly what happened when Adam and I took to the seas and embarked on our first full length cruise, courtesy of Royal Caribbean. A quick plane ride (please note the sarcasm as this plane […]

Do you ever feel like you’re not in control of the direction your life is taking? Or feel as if the dreams and aims you for the future seem out of your grasp? With all the external elements that make up our day-to-day lives  – like work, family, relationships, it can be easy to feel sometimes that our journey isn’t quite led by us. However, if you think like that you’re downplaying the role you have in your destiny. The biggest driver in our destinies are our thoughts. We’re often told to recognise the power of our thoughts, but we hardly ever reflect on the true power they harbour. Other than breathing, thinking is the only thing we’re doing all of the time, and the way we think directly dictates the way we live. Your destiny is not defined by the things that you cannot control (like the weather…other people…the job market…basically, everything that isn’t you) – it is defined and carved in the thoughts you have, then allow to manifest, become feelings, attitudes, behaviours and then habits. Always thinking like a defeatist? That voice telling you ‘I can’t do that’, will eventually a behavioural habit which will affect everything you do in life. Conversely, if you think positively, and direct your thoughts to positive places, positivity won’t be merely a state of mind, it’ll become the cornerstone of your destiny.

Film Review | Snow White and the Huntsman

posted by on 28/05/2012

Although Snow White and the Huntsman is not the first depiction of the well-known fairy-tale Princess this year – that honour went to the light-hearted Mirror Mirror – it’s safe to say that it’s the version many were more interested in watching, and with good reason; it boasts an excellent cast – including Oscar-winner Charlize Theron, Chris ‘Thor’ Hemsworth, and Twilight star Kristen Stewart – an acclaimed video game commercial director in Rupert Sanders (in his feature-film debut), and the impressive trailers only broadened its appeal. It’s surprising then, that this darker take on Snow White is far from the epic re-imagining it looked so set on delivering.

Introducing Cheaney – Handcrafted Shoes

posted by on 28/05/2012

Last week, I met up with the good folks from Cheaney during my lunchbreak. Heard of the name before? Nope, neither did I tell their PR emailed me a few months back. The brand have been around for 125 years and didn’t have any form of PR till the start of this year! by any form I mean, not even a single photograph. Yes, I was just as flabbergasted as you are right now but it does show how good their product must be if all they relied on was word of mouth marketing. They’re one of a few English shoe brands that still make their 100% of the product in England (can’t say the same for many, including a couple of your favourites!). Cheaney have over 200 different hand crafted operations in the making of a single shoes, each skill has been passed through generations. Crazy. More on the reverse.

Raised in Philadelphia and currently living in Brooklyn, Keith has been capturing some of the crew on their trip throughout Europe.  The best part is, these are only preview shots and there will be more to follow. Beyonce Rehearses For Atlantic City Shows

posted by on 25/05/2012

Some may question my decision to post Beyonce‘s Behind The Scenes: making of Revel concert however part of the Y&Y ethos is to Inspire and Educate. This particular video definitely fits in the Inspire category, for all aspiring music artists and even those doing it now you should watch this video and feel inspired. Inspired to take control and own what you do, inspired to take time and fine tune what it is you want to present to the world. To often we see the glitz and the glamour but it take a lot of hard work behind the scenes to bring that glamour to life. This video see Beyonce planning and rehearsing her return to the stage at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City May 25, 26,27 & 28.

Facebook Camera

posted by on 25/05/2012

Facebook are making some interesting movements. First they acquire Instagram, for reasons currently unknown, and now they have released the latest extension to their brand dubbed Facebook Camera. This new addition to the Facebook family does slightly bemuse me as it appears to be a direct competitor to their newly acquired photo app. What ever the case may be over at FB HQ what we do know is that Facebook Camera allows you to post multiple photos from your camera roll at a time, crop and apply filters to give your photos a new look, scroll down a single feed of all your friends’ photos, tag your friends, add photo captions, say where you are and see photos from the different apps your friends use. Unfortunately for android users this app is currently only available on iOS, so for all you Apple device owners will you be getting this app?
